Our Mission: deliver the most food to the most Australians in need in the most efficient and effective way.
About us
Foodbank is a food relief organisation that partners with the entire Australian food and grocery sector to supply front-line charities nationally with the stocks they need to address hunger in the community. This involves working with farmers, wholesalers, manufacturers and retailers to source fresh and manufactured foods as well as personal and household items for those in need. Donations include stock that doesn’t meet industry specifications, is close to expiry or excess to requirements. Companies also make donations as part of their corporate social responsibility commitments and cause-related marketing campaigns. Foodbank supplies food and groceries to more than 2,950 charities and also provides regular breakfasts for students in 2,890 schools across the country. As a not-for-profit organisation, Foodbank relies on governments, individuals, organisations, community groups and thousands of volunteers to fight hunger.

One million meals thanks to the AMP Foundation 💜 As the Foodbank Hunger Report 2025 revealed one in three households experienced food insecurity in the past 12 months, our generous supporters have never been more important. Our new CEO Kylea (Pronounced Kylie) Tink and General Manager of Partnerships Brendon Smyth met with AMP Foundation CEO Nicola Stokes and AMP Foundation Board Chair Alexis George to discuss the importance of the AMP Foundation's $500,000 donation. Heading into a season that typically sees higher demand, this funding will help Foodbanks across the country prepare, respond and support individuals, families and communities doing it tough. Thank you, AMP Foundation, for your commitment to helping change lives in Australia. #EndHunger #Creatingchange #FoodRelief #Foodbank

Hunger doesn’t discriminate. The Foodbank Hunger Report 2025, released today, reveals a growing food insecurity crisis across Australia and challenges the misconception that hunger only affects the unemployed or homeless. “Australians are doing everything right: working, budgeting, seeking help - yet still going hungry. This is a failure of policy, not people. We need coordinated, national action now.” said Foodbank Australia CEO, Kylea (Pronounced Kylie) Tink Among the report’s most alarming findings: » One in two (48%) of all renting households have experienced food insecurity in the past year. » Seven in ten (67%) of households that include someone with a disability or health issue have experienced food insecurity in the past 12 months, with three quarters of them in the severe category. » Nearly 7 in 10 (68%) single-parent households are now food insecure » One in five households earning $91,000 or more experienced food insecurity in the past 12 months. We’re calling on the Federal Government to act now to stop Australians from going hungry. 👉Read the Foodbank Hunger Report 2025: https://lnkd.in/gfQjPnie #HungerInAustralia #HungerCrisis #EndHunger #ZeroHunger

It’s Anti-Poverty Week, and the truth is hard to ignore. New research from ACOSS Australian Council of Social Service and UNSW has revealed that 1 in 7 people in Australia are living in poverty. That’s 3.7 million people struggling to get by, including 757,000 children. The report found that children are especially affected, with 1 in 6 now living in poverty. Behind every number is a person, a family, a community feeling the impact. At Foodbank, we see the faces behind these statistics every day. We work with our partners to make sure no one has to face hunger alone, but it’s clear there’s still so much more to do. This Anti-Poverty Week, let’s keep the conversation going and work together to create a future where everyone can thrive. 👉To read the report: https://lnkd.in/ggBCEjmd #AntiPovertyWeek #EndPoverty #FoodbankAustralia #FoodInsecurity #TogetherWeCan

We’re so excited to welcome Kylea (Pronounced Kylie) Tink as the new Chief Executive Officer at Foodbank Australia, joining the team on Monday 27th October. Kylea has an impressive professional track record spanning federal politics, commercial operations and the not-for-profit space. As the former Independent Member for North Sydney, Kylea was the first woman elected to represent the seat which, in March 2025, was abolished by the AEC as part of their boundary redistribution. At the time Kylea announced that, rather than contest another seat, she would retire from politics along with her community. The former Managing Director for Edelman Australia, Kylea comes to Foodbank equipped with a deep knowledge of the not-for-profit sector having served as the in augural CEO of the McGrath Foundation where she played a pivotal role in conceiving and successfully establishing one of the most iconic sporting events in the world – the Sydney Pink Test. From there as the CEO for Camp Quality she turned her attention to working with those seeking to allow kids facing cancer to just be kids again. “Over the years I have been fortunate to work with incredibly smart, committed and passionate people and organisations who have pulled together to address fundamentally and completely untenable systemic inequities in our society. The opportunity for me to join Foodbank Australia is a natural extension of that experience as it provides the opportunity to again work with dedicated and brave people to fix what is a wholly fixable issue - hunger. “No one in Australia should ever have to worry about what they are going to either feed their families or eat themselves and its time we worked to bring that truth to reality.” We’re all looking forward to Kylea’s vision, energy and leadership which will be crucial in building Foodbank’s continued success as Australia’s most trusted food relief organisation, driving systemic change and overseeing the growth of our flagship programs: Feeding Australian Kids, Supporting First Nations People, Foodbank in the Regions, Ensuring Emergency Preparedness and Response, Fuelling Healthy Eating and Fighting Food Loss and Waste.
