It’s Anti-Poverty Week, and the truth is hard to ignore. New research from ACOSS Australian Council of Social Service and UNSW has revealed that 1 in 7 people in Australia are living in poverty. That’s 3.7 million people struggling to get by, including 757,000 children. The report found that children are especially affected, with 1 in 6 now living in poverty. Behind every number is a person, a family, a community feeling the impact. At Foodbank, we see the faces behind these statistics every day. We work with our partners to make sure no one has to face hunger alone, but it’s clear there’s still so much more to do.
