Fighting hunger by sourcing and distributing food for people in need.
About us
Foodbank is Australia’s largest food relief organisation, providing food relief to over 652,00 Australians each month through our charity partners and school programs. We achieve this by working with the Australian food and grocery industry which provides surplus and donated product. We also collaborate with farmers, manufacturers, suppliers and the government on programs to produce key staple foods such as breakfast cereals, milk, pasta, canned foods and sausages. Our mission is to deliver the most food to the most Australians in need in the most efficient way. Hunger • Over 4 million Australians have experienced food insecurity in the last 12 months • Over half of Australians experiencing food insecurity are employed • The high cost of living is the main cause of food insecurity for Australians How we help • Foodbank distributes food to over 652,000 Australians every month, of which 27% are children • More than four out of five recipients of food relief say the benefits of this assistance made a difference in their life

Last Friday, 16 passionate Metallica fans, both local and international, volunteered their time at our warehouse, creating 14,259 meals for people in need. This incredible effort was made possible through the generous support of All Within My Hands Foundation (Metallica) and CNH. Here at Foodbank, we’re on a mission to seek and destroy hunger so everyone has access to good food, every day. As the year draws to a close, we’re reminded that sometimes just one meal can change a person’s life. A huge thank you to these fans, our partners and everyone who continue to support our mission. When it comes to ending hunger, it’s all within our hands and nothing else matters. #MetallicaFans #FoodbankNSWACT #AllWithinMyHands #VolunteerWork #MealsForThoseInNeed #CNH

What a morning! Our Hunger Report Breakfast 2025 was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when community, leadership and compassion come together. Hosted by the brilliant Chris Bath, we were honoured to hear from our inspiring panel: John Robertson, our CEO, who unveiled key insights from the 2025 Foodbank Hunger Report, The Hon. Chris Minns, Premier of NSW, who reaffirmed his commitment to tackling food insecurity. Cara Varian, CEO of NCOSS, who championed dignity and equity for all and Kellie Small, the heart behind seven Community Pantries across the Coffs Coast, whose frontline stories moved us all. Together, we explored the urgent realities of hunger across NSW and the ACT and the bold, collective action needed to end it. Thank you to everyone who joined us, in person and who continue to show their support to what we do. The work continues, and we’re proud to be doing it with you. Shocking stat: Almost 1 in 5 households in NSW & ACT earning $91,000 or more faced food insecurity in the past year. This isn’t just about poverty. At Foodbank NSW & ACT, sharing knowledge, best practice and innovation is central to our mission. We welcomed a delegation of agriculture professionals from Malaysia to our Glendenning HQ, in a visit organised by the Malaysian Consulate in Sydney. The exchange was a fantastic opportunity to learn from one another, explore new ideas and strengthen global collaboration in the fight against food insecurity. Thank you to all involved, we’re proud to be part of a network that values connection, compassion and collective action. Last week we held a special webinar for our supporters to talk directly about the reality on the ground for Foodbank NSW & ACT and our community partners. The need for food relief support has never been so high and the levels of food donations to our warehouse has never been so low. The panel consisted of our CEO John Robertson, our COO Samantha Prescott and our wonderful Community Partner, Kellie Small from Lifehouse Pantries. It was my first time leading a webinar (thank you Chris Bath the consummate pro for the tips!) and I absolutely loved the powerful stories being told by the panellists to explain directly to our supporters exactly how their loyal and generous support is ensuring more families across NSW and the ACT are able to access food relief and an honest description of the gaps that we are facing. I'll put the link in the comments below if you are keen to learn more. Thank you also to Lynda Harwood-Compton for her brilliant tips on running webinars for not for profits.
