We’re pleased to see the release of the National Best Practice Framework for Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) - a valuable step toward more connected, family-centred supports for children and families across Australia. As contributors to its development, we were happy to see its focus on what quality support looks like: joined-up, meaningful, and grounded in everyday life. We’re looking forward to understanding more and seeing how this framework will strengthen collaboration and outcomes for children, families, and communities. And as the authors note, while “intervention” might not be the perfect word, it reflects our shared commitment to keep learning, growing, and improving together. 🌟 A Shoutout to Our Incredible Team 🌟 At CfC Logan, we usually celebrate the amazing work of our partners - but sometimes it’s important to recognise the dedication of our own team. A huge thank you to the CfC Logan crew who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the 2025 Childhood Summit a success. Each team member is a highly capable professional, yet they never hesitate to roll up their sleeves and tackle the unglamorous but essential tasks - from cleaning toilets and taking out the rubbish, to managing logistics, keeping children engaged, ensuring catering runs smoothly, and even picking up last-minute supplies. Special recognition to our Business & Quality Coordinator, Ella Schwark who took on sound and audio-visual for the first time and absolutely nailed it. Jessica Jackson, Lisa Cradock, Ella Schwark, Elise Parker, Cara Powdrell, Holly Rynsent, and Penny Goodall - what an extraordinary team! #TeamExcellence #ChildhoodSummit #LeadershipInAction

🌟 Listening Through Their Eyes - 2025 Childhood Summit 🌟 “We are community citizens. We have a voice. We want to use it.” Powerful words from the young Queenslanders who took to the stage at the 2025 Childhood Summit in Logan last week - reminding us all to listen deeply to children and honour their courage in speaking up. The Salvation Army Communities for Children Logan was proud to partner in this incredible event, held during Children’s Week and led by the Australian Institute of Play alongside many passionate organisations and community champions. Across two days, 54 children shared their insights on topics that matter most to them - from mental health and connection to culture, respect, and digital childhoods. Each session was a powerful reminder that children are experts in their own lives, and that true change begins when we listen and act on what they tell us. A special thank you to the Department of Social Services (DSS) for their funding, which supports our work in Logan and makes opportunities like this Summit possible - helping us amplify children’s voices and strengthen our community programs. A heartfelt thank you to all the presenters, partners, and especially the children whose wisdom and bravery made this Summit so impactful. In between having the privilege to hear the children present their heartfelt talks at the Childhood Summit 2025, Logan, QLD, amongst a flurry of wonderful loose parts play and potion making. I offered a creative and often quiet reflective space as part of the Play32 Festival. An "Art with Nature" mural making experience. The growing group art piece captured & documented (in real time) the colour, vibrance, freedom, individuality & collective nature of PLAY. The feet, hands, sticks, leaves, snake skins, flowers and paint came together to create a piece, that I feel sits at the heart of our message... play comes first. After a chat with Hyahno Moser leading up to the event, I have been focusing on the importance of play in the upcoming 2032 Olympics. Amongst many things, PLAY provides children with the skills and aptitude to build strong bodies & minds for future recreation & sport. You never know, some of our serious players today could be champions of Brisbane 2032! Thank you @Emma Clavell, a fellow educational leader @The Learning Garden, Jimboomba, for the inspiration for the mural in capturing this! Also HUGE thanks to Marion Allard of Frasers Property Australia for supporting the process and being so hands on and welcoming to our Bush Kindy Community over the 2 days! And to the incredible group of playworkers, I was honoured to be welcomed as one myself. Their dedication to children's play is outstanding. Playwork is, and will continue to be recognised as an essential & important profession when it comes to working with children & families. If you haven't already, I encourage all of you to get on board. Thank you to The Australian Institute of Play for always inviting the Bush Kindy Community to be part of the play festival. And to Penny Goodall and The Salvation Army Communities for Children, Logan for recognising the work that we pitch in for Logan families and beyond. The boots on the ground in play advocacy in South East Queensland is truly to be commended. 🌏 Kids Community of the World – Childhood Summit 2025 🌏 What an inspiring morning we had! It was a privilege for SSI to partner with the Australian Institute of Play and fellow sponsors to co-lead the Kids Community of the World session at the Childhood Summit — celebrating the powerful voices and cultural richness of our multicultural children. Diversity is our strength. However it can feel like two different worlds — our work is about bridging those worlds, creating spaces where every child feels seen, heard, and proud of their story. We lead with relationships first, ensuring communities feel culturally safe and children can share the power of their collective cultures. Today showed what’s possible when we do what it takes to make families and children feel they belong — not just in their communities, but in spaces like this summit. A heartfelt thank you to Racheal Kirabo Lauren Gill, Sahba Hamid and the SSI team for your dedication — from engagement sessions to mentoring and countless calls to families — you made this possible. To our partners Hyahno Moser, Ella and Jodie Booth, thank you for walking alongside us. And to the families — thank you for your trust, courage, and belief. You remind us why this work matters. And to the children — today, you spoke for yourselves, the power was felt in the room, we just gave you a platform 💛 Maribel Marquez Yamamah Agha Tariro Mapfumo Ghassan Noujaim Ben Fioramonte Emily Ellis Mindy Russell Violet Roumeliotis AM Penny Creamer Penny Goodall Violet Roumeliotis AM Luke Baker Luke Twyford Logan Together Queensland Family and Child Commission Thriving Queensland Kids Partnership The Salvation Army Communities for Children, Logan #ChildhoodSummit #Inclusion #Play #ChildParticipation #Community #SSI #collectiveimpact

The 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 is part of the Focus Community Strategy - shaped and inspired by the people who live here in Logan. In 2019, community members voiced a strong desire for greater impact through a truly place-based approach, one that reflects the unique character and strengths of Logan’s smaller communities within the wider region. One example of this vision in action is 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗪𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 project. Co-designed by parents, carers, and community members, this initiative brings families with young children together each week to explore a different culture through games, stories, food, and learning. It’s a celebration of diversity, belonging, and the power of community-led design to create safe, trusted connections for families. Logan Together is proud to provide backbone support for the Central Logan 100 Day Challenge, ensuring that community voices drive real and lasting change for children and families. 📅 Launching in Term 4, this program will run for 8 weeks across Central Logan. 🔗 Check out the timetable below and share with your networks and organisations in #Logan.

Partnerships for Local Action and Community Empowerment (PLACE) Pride in Place report identifies seven enablers of effective place-based work. In Logan, we’ve been able to trial many of them: 🔑 Trust enables change → Department of Social Services (DSS) trusted us to steward flexible funding, and in turn, our community partners trust us to back their priorities. 🔑 Local leadership recognition → leaders in Logan are shaping responses that reflect their own aspirations. 🔑 Backbone coordination → our small team of Collective Change Facilitators helps hold vision, connect across silos, and keep momentum. 🔑 Cultural authority → stepping back so First Nations and cultural groups can self-determine has been vital. 🔑 Long-term, flexible investment → 20 years of CfC has created stability; recent exemptions have added adaptability. We’re not finished. Each enabler still brings challenges and tensions. But what we’ve learned so far is clear: when these conditions are in place, communities thrive. 👉 Read the report #PrideInPlace #LoganTogether #CollectiveImpact
