🌏 Happy World Children’s Day! Today, we celebrate children across Queensland and around the world, their voices, their rights, and their futures. This year also marks 36 years since the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) was adopted. The UNCRC is the most widely ratified human rights treaty in history and remains a powerful reminder that every child has the right to be safe, heard, healthy, included, and supported to thrive. At Children’s Rights Queensland, we are proud to continue championing these rights every day. From creating resources co-designed with children, to supporting communities through Children’s Week celebrations, to partnering with families, schools, First Nations leaders and organisations across the state, our work is driven by one simple belief: When children know their rights, they can speak up, feel empowered, and help shape a better world. As we honour World Children’s Day, we invite you to join us in: 🔹 Reflecting on the progress of the last 36 years 🔹 Amplifying children’s voices in your homes, schools and communities 🔹 Taking action to ensure every child feels safe, valued and respected Together, let’s keep building a Queensland where every child’s rights are recognised and upheld, today and every day. Happy World Children’s Day. Happy 36 years of the UNCRC. #UNCRC #WorldChildrensDay

Today is Day for Daniel. This important day honours Daniel Morcombe’s legacy and raises awareness about child safety, protection, and prevention. At Children's Rights Queensland, we proudly support the Daniel Morcombe Foundation Inc. and stand for every child’s right to be safe, heard, and protected everywhere, every day. CRQ was represented at the Walk for Daniel on the Sunshine Coast, showing our commitment to creating safer environments for all children. Together, we can build communities where children know their rights, feel empowered to speak up, and are surrounded by adults who listen and take action. #DayForDaniel #ChildSafety #ChildProtection #ChildrensRights

Last night as part of Children’s Week, Children's Rights Queensland, in partnership with NAPCAN, held a special screening of the film Future Council at the Dendy Powerhouse Outdoor Cinema in Brisbane. Over 100 people attended the event, including children from schools across the city. Future Council, a new documentary by Damon Gameau, follows a group of young people as they travel across Europe to explore how communities can live in balance with nature and create a fairer, more sustainable world. The film celebrates the power of children’s voices in shaping decisions that affect their lives, reflecting key principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), including children’s rights to be heard (Article 12) and to participate in decisions that impact their future.
