The Singapore Aviation Academy, in collaboration with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), successfully concluded the inaugural 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 – 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞-𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 on 22–23 October 2025. The two-day programme brought together 68 aviation professionals from 12 countries, uniting global leaders to explore how airports can be powerful engines for economic growth, innovation, and sustainability. Aviation and technology will always remain my passion and core strength, but attending #tlacSEA 2025 in Singapore reminded me how #DigitalTransformation , #AI, and #Sustainability are reshaping not just the skies, but every industry connected to it. Last week, I had the privilege of attending #tlacSEA 2025 in Singapore — an energizing few days filled with innovation, collaboration, and forward-thinking discussions shaping the future of Logistics and Supply Chain across the globe. From thought-provoking keynotes to hands-on demos and networking sessions, a few key insights stood out for me: 1- Human-Centered Digital Transformation: The true power of technology lies not in its complexity, but in how it improves human experiences. Successful transformation happens when innovation serves people — not the other way around. 2- AI as a Catalyst, Not a Replacement: Conversations around the use of AI highlighted its growing role in augmenting human potential — driving smarter decisions, optimizing operations, and enabling creativity at scale. The focus is shifting from automation to augmentation. 3- Sustainability as a Strategic Imperative: It was inspiring to see sustainability integrated into so many discussions — from green data centers to ethical AI. Digital progress and environmental responsibility are no longer separate goals; they must advance together. 4- SEA’s Digital Momentum: Southeast Asia continues to emerge as a powerhouse of innovation. The region is not merely adapting global trends — it’s setting them, fueled by agility, creativity, and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. 5- Collaboration Fuels Progress: tlcSEA reaffirmed that real transformation happens when industries, governments, and individuals come together with shared purpose and open minds. I left the event inspired by how leaders and innovators across the globe are building a future where technology, sustainability, and humanity coexist harmoniously. A First Look at the Airbus A350 That Will Fly the Longest Flights on Earth Qantas has unveiled a major milestone in its bold Project Sunrise program, as its first Airbus A350-1000ULR (Ultra Long Range) aircraft officially enters final assembly in Toulouse, France. This special variant of the A350 will soon operate the world’s longest commercial flights, connecting Sydney directly to London and New York, with flight times stretching to around 20 hours. Project Sunrise has been nearly a decade in the making. The initiative was first announced in 2017, inspired by Qantas’ historic “Kangaroo Route” that once linked Australia to the UK with multiple stops. The goal is to make that journey possible non-stop, giving passengers a new level of comfort and convenience on routes that push the limits of modern aviation. To make it happen, Qantas selected the Airbus A350-1000ULR powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines and configured to carry around 238 passengers in a spacious, wellness-focused cabin featuring new-generation seating and in-flight zones designed for stretching and relaxation. All major sections of the first aircraft, including the forward, centre, and rear fuselage, have now been joined with the wings, tail, and landing gear. The jet will soon move to a dedicated hangar for installation of its engines and flight-test equipment ahead of an extensive flight test program beginning in 2026. Qantas Group sets up new innovation centre in Adelaide Qantas said it is establishing a new Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide to accelerate the delivery of intuitive, world-leading digital experiences. The Centre is projected to be home to more than 420 highly-skilled technology roles over the next three years, bringing critical innovation capability in-house. The new purpose-built technology and innovation centre, which is being supported by the South Australian Government, will be based in Adelaide’s CBD and open in March 2026, becoming the home of the airline’s technology product development teams, consisting of product managers, digital experience designers, software engineers, and data and AI specialists. “Innovation has been a core part of the airline’s DNA for more than 100 years. This Centre marks a new chapter in our efforts to reimagine the travel experience for the millions of customers who fly with us. Technology and AI are critical to lifting the customer experience at every part of the journey, from booking to in-flight and baggage collection.
