Nourishing Our Country. $1 = 2 meals

About us

Founded by Ronni Kahn AO in 2004, OzHarvest is Australia’s leading food rescue organisation with a driving purpose to ‘Nourish our Country’. Our mission is to stop food waste, feed people in need and protect our planet by championing the value of food and driving change at all levels of society. The impact of our work is strongly aligned to achieving five United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. OzHarvest is best known for our iconic yellow food rescue vans which save over 250 tonnes of good food every week and deliver it direct to charities that feed people in need. We’re also creating positive change through three national education programs (FEAST, NEST and Nourish), and through our advocacy work raising awareness about food security and doing whatever we can to halve Australia’s food waste by 2030. Innovation is part of our DNA and we’re always looking to add value to what we do and find new ways to tackle food waste and feed hungry people. We’re pioneering social impact projects from free supermarkets (OzHarvest Market) and a restaurant (Refettorio OzHarvest) that feeds people in need and creating revenue generating products via OzHarvest Ventures. Our unique for-impact, food rescue model has been implemented across the globe in New Zealand, UK, South Africa, Vietnam and Japan. Every $1 donated allows OzHarvest to deliver 2 meals to people in need.

  • We don’t slow down at OzHarvest! With ABC Gives wrapped, we’ve finally taken a moment to look back on CEO CookOff — and this video captures it all. Our flagship fundraiser went national for the very first time, creating an unforgettable celebration of community, generosity and pure joy. Across 7 cities, we hosted 9 events that brought together 29 celebrity chefs, 200 CEOs cooking for good, and 300 special guests from the charities we proudly serve. And at the heart of it all: together we raised over $1.5 million, enabling OzHarvest to deliver more than 3 million more meals to those who need them most. Truly extraordinary! We’re so incredibly grateful to every single person who played a part in bringing CEO CookOff to life — your energy, heart and support made this possible. A special shout-out to our amazing partners: National Presenting Partner bp, Creative Production Partner AV1, Hotel Partner IHG Hotels & Resorts, and Kitchenware Supporter HexClad Cookware. 💛

  • We’re so grateful to our Founding Partner Goodman for helping us deliver an additional 1.5 million meals to people in need. Reymond Kurniawan from Goodman joined our driver Michael on a food rescue run to witness the incredible impact of our partnership.

Through the support of the Goodman Foundation, OzHarvest has added three new vans to its fleet in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. In just one year, these vans have helped rescue over 750,000 kilograms of food – that’s around 1.5 million meals delivered to Australians in need. Watch Rey from Goodman as he joins Michael from OzHarvest on a food rescue run, delivering fresh produce to Stepping Stone House – a safe haven for children and young people at risk or experiencing homelessness. It’s a glimpse into the real impact of our partnership that’s helping communities across Australia, one meal at a time.

🌍 Big news from #COP30: The Food Waste Breakthrough has just launched. The Breakthrough is a global push to halve food waste by 2030, which would cut up to 7% of methane emissions - tackling hunger and climate change together. Every year, 1 billion tonnes of food are wasted, causing up to 10% of global emissions (5x the global aviation sector). Locally, reducing food waste means more than just environmental outcomes - it’s a circular economy win, a productivity boost, and helps reduce the cost-of-living for households. Australia has committed to halving food waste by 2030, but we're not on track. This Breakthrough should give the government momentum - to sign on, commit to action, as well as embed food waste reduction in our National Food Security Strategy. 👉 Minister Murray Watt and Minster Chris Bowen, this is a crucial moment. OzHarvest calls on the Australian Government to support and sign on to the Food Waste Breakthrough, and keep ourselves accountable to our 2030 target, for people and planet. • 💛Our hearts are bursting!! Yesterday, was a day to remember as our teams across the country joined forces with ABC radio presenters to connect communities across Australia to our cause!! From jumping in our yellow vans, talking to our drivers and the charities we support, featuring our educators, students and chefs - so many people tuned in, called up, and showed up for OzHarvest through ABC Gives — and we’re still buzzing from the love and generosity that poured in. From phones ringing off the hook to stories that brought us to tears, it was a day overflowing with kindness and connection. So many donors shared they were facing tough times themselves—but still gave what they could, knowing what it feels like to go without. Ken in Perth donated his inheritence, a group in Melbourne were at the beach when they heard us on the radio and immediately drove straight to our office to hand-deliver a cash donation, even the Premier of South Australia popped in to support us! Generosity truly lives everywhere, and we were overwhelmed with the response. 💛 120+ interviews with our OzHarvest family across 7 states 💛 150+ volunteers taking calls and collecting donations 💛 30+ on-air competitions and auctions to spark giving (from birdwatching, trivia nights, carrot relish, dinners, breakfasts, star gazing, ocean swims and coastal walks!) 💛 1000+ calls and from people giving donations with love and compassion 💛 6900+ donations 💛 3000+ mentions on ABC local radio stations across the country 💛 Endless kindness, plenty of tears and infinite gratitude A huge thank you to everyone who donated helping raise enough to deliver an extra 1,900,000 meals to people in need (and donations still coming in)! To our friends at Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) radio which after yesterday we think should stand for Action Brings Change and every listener who gave what they could — thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your generosity became more than meals; it became hope, comfort, and a reminder that no one is alone. Thank you for bringing out the very best of community. 💛  You can still donate. $1= 2 meals: https://lnkd.in/gXrpmcKB
