  • 🌍 Social Enterprise Day | Leading for Humanity How much impact can you squeeze onto a table when you invite a dozen inspiring leaders for dinner, who are all on a mission to tackle some of the biggest challenges of our time? At OzHarvest Ventures, we believe impact is built through people - the dedicated, generous, purpose-led humans who show up to solve big challenges together. Last night, OzHarvest founder Ronni Kahn AO and Head of OzHarvest Ventures Louise Tran hosted a dinner in Brisbane bringing together 12 extraordinary humans from across food, social enterprise, impact, philanthropy, venture builders, First Nations enterprise and business for good in Brisbane. Some of those around the table included: • Elise Parups championing and reimagining how powerful a transformation of investment and finances into impact could be, also a leader in food systems and sustainable agriculture • Darryl Majid & Dominiqe Bird (Esparq Ventures) backing purpose-led First Nations' entrepreneurs, building new bold business models and forging innovation • Genevieve Fraser and Stuart (Stu) Fraser, championing philanthropy into causes that make tangible impact, and growing accessible funds for social businesses backed by female investors  • Tom Allen (Impact Boom), amplifying social enterprise and business for good on a global scale while driving collaboration across the impact community • Michaela Windsor (OzHarvest QLD), leading food rescue operations and community partnerships across Queensland • Madonna Thomson, advocating for ethical native bush food sourcing and First Nations empowerment and driving next generation entrepreneurship and knowledge sharing • Suzie Wing, Ellen Young and Ashley Ng, global business builders helping to scale start ups with purpose through storytelling, education and global trade expertise • Ivey Cowie (Business Chamber Queensland), strengthening local business networks, capability and building strong ecosystems True collaboration doesn’t start with a five-year plan on a document. It starts with trust, connection, shared values, and a collective commitment to creating the world we want future generations to inherit. We can't wait to see what seeds grow from this wonderful moment of connection. A heartfelt thanks to Artemus Group Luke Fraser Adam Flaskas Corey Costelloe for generously hosting us with beautiful food, and warm hospitality at Ciao Papi. What a backdrop!! Here's to many more tables sharing conversations, connection and collaboration to create positive impact in the world. #SocialEnterpriseDay #OzHarvestVentures #BusinessForGood #SocialEnterprise #ImpactInvestment #CircularEconomy #FoodSystems #QueenslandSocialEnterpriseRoadmap

  • Sustainable style that feeds people? Yes, you heard right. We're thrilled to showcase a limited-edition range with Citizen Wolf and Epson Australia including tees, totes and aprons featuring designs by OzHarvest founder Ronni Kahn, made entirely in Australia using zero-waste textile and innovative printing technology. Every piece is printed on-demand in Citizen Wolf's Smart Factory, located in Sydney. No overstocking. No textile waste. Just ethical manufacturing that works for people and planet. Paired with the innovative printing technology from Epson, we're proud to see collaborations like this coming to life, demonstrating collective efforts to reduce waste, across industries. At true leader in sustainable fashion, Citizen Wolf's co-founder Eric Phu said the model enables charities and brands to create products only once an order is placed, avoiding surplus inventory and reducing costs. “In collaborating with Epson to create a smarter factory, we’re able to bring to life a new innovation with our Zero Inventory Merchandise solution,” Phu said. Founder and Visionary-in-Residence of OzHarvest, Ronni Kahn AO said, “This unique showcase is an example of how we can all work together and create positive impact for the world through innovative ideas and collaboration.” OzHarvest Ventures grows business for good, creating positive impact for people and planet, with proceeds from every purchase supporting OzHarvest's work to fight food waste and deliver meals to Australians facing food insecurity. It was great to see friends and supporters coming together to drive social procurement and champion the social enterprise sector. • “Less than 1% of Indigenous people are represented in the native food industry in Australia. I like to turn that around and say, the native food industry is already 100% Indigenous because it is our culture, it is our Country, it’s our identity. So then it shifts the focus, how do we unlock value from culture that gives back to community." Ben Tyler, Founder, Kakadu Kitchen October is Indigenous Business Month. This year’s theme, Strength Through Collaboration, is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when we create true, meaningful partnerships and intentional collaboration. We’re proud to stand alongside Indigenous businesses like Kakadu Kitchen, incredible innovators and communities — not just this month, but always. #indigenousbusinessmonth #indigenousbusinessaustralia #nativefoodaustralia #businessforgood #kakadukitchen

Lemonaid, what a journey that's only just beginning! With a few huge months for OzHarvest Ventures - full of purpose, people and sharing our products-for-good... to the world, we thought it deserved a bit of a highlights wrap up! 🌱 We loved being part of Social Enterprise Council of NSW & ACT (SECNA) Social Enterprise Festival, celebrating the incredible community of social entrepreneurs and change-makers proving how business should be done, where people and planet come before profit. Thanks to Kylie Flament and the SECNA team for creating the space for us to come together and shine a light on business for good. 🚜 We headed to Social Impact in the Regions, connecting with amazing regional local leaders and community champions. Huge thanks to Kerry Grace and Chad Renando for championing place-based solutions and sharing opportunities for expanded impact in the regions. Great to see impact friends Tom Dawkins Tom Allen Dr Dimity Podger and great humans all round. 🍽️ At Fine Food Australia, we showcased our new range of upcycled and zero-waste products. • Last week at SXSW Sydney we brought together three different perspectives to deep dive into the topic - No One Hungry: Rethinking Food Systems for 10 Billion. With food systems responsible for up to 35% of global emissions, $36 billion in food waste annually in Australia, and 3.4 million households facing food insecurity, it’s clear that maintaining the status quo is no longer an option. Thank you to Matt Moran AM, Philippe Ceulen, Partner of Innovation Architects & Mandalay Venture Partners, who joined our Head of OzHarvest Ventures Louise Tran for a powerful conversation through the lenses of innovation, investment, impact and community. Here are some (not all) of the insights that were captured: 🥕 Regeneration and valuing soil health. The future of food must restore, not deplete. Matt Moran discussed the role that chefs can play to lead this shift and champion better produce, support local farmers, and ultimately influence what people eat and how we place value back into food. He discussed how his own venture such as the Rockley Pub and farm demonstrates regenerative agriculture in action, transforming the ecosystem, the regional economy and reviving opportunities for local employment. 💡 Investment with purpose. Phil shared drivers around government investment, the role RDCs can play in leading policy and impact across the value chain, matching regional investment with community-driven outcomes, and highlighting the role that technology plays in enabling innovation to meet real-world needs. 🤝 Collaboration drives system change. Louise shared the history OzHarvest has played driving advocacy, from changing food donor legislation to championing behaviour change at the retail and consumer level. Critical to a food system transformation is recognising the shared responsibility from producers to policymakers, retailers and consumers who all have an important role to play. Thank you for all those who joined the conversation - keep following our journey for more impact and collaboration stories across the food system! #FoodInnovation #CircularEconomy #ImpactInvestment #AgTech #FoodSystems #OzHarvestVentures #RegenerativeAg 📷 New Heights Media - Australia Joyce Ong

  • Celebrating Country, culture and connection. This weekend on Gadigal land, Indigiearth hosted the inaugural Native Australian Food Festival, led by the incredible Sharon Winsor. This extraordinary event hosted at Sydney’s Carriageworks, brought together First Nations business leaders and entrepreneurs from all over the country to celebrate and share First Nations food and culture. Among the celebration was a powerful and stark reminder that less than 1% of the native food industry is represented by Indigenous peoples, highlighting the inequities within this sector. To support First Nations-led businesses, we encourage everyone to be conscious consumers and ask:   - Does this product directly support Indigenous- owned business and growers? - Where are the ingredients sourced from? - Is the business Indigenous-owned or is there meaningful collaboration that directly supports Blak business or gives back to First Nations communities? OzHarvest Ventures was honoured to stand alongside our Conscious Drink partner Ben Tyler Founder of Kakadu Kitchen to share the story of collaboration and commitment to create impact with every sip. We were so fortunate to be in the same room as pioneering leaders like Sharon Winsor (Indigiearth), Rayleen Brown, Mindy Woods , Bruce Pascoe (Black Duck Foods Ltd), Aunty Beryl, Fiona Harrison (Chocolate on Purpose), Darryl Majid (Esparq Ventures) and so many more, who shared raw and painful truths as well as their hopes for the future of the Australian Native Food industry. We are deeply grateful for all those we shared Conscious conversations with, including The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Ronni Kahn AO (OzHarvest), Ben Shewry (Attica) and more. #socialenterprise #australiannativefoodfestival #FirstNationsLeadership
