Exclude website and app categories from LinkedIn Audience Network or CTV Ads ad sets

Customize your ad delivery on the LinkedIn Audience Network and for CTV Ads by excluding third-party website and app publishers by Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) category when you create or edit your ad set.

The LinkedIn Audience Network is a curated network of third-party apps and sites that professional audiences actively engage on. It has built-in brand safety integrations powered by industry leaders such Pixalate and DoubleVerify.

Exclude sites by IAB category

To exclude websites and apps by IAB category:

  1. Create a new ad set or edit an existing ad set in Campaign Manager. For more information on how to create or edit a ad set: 

  2. In the Ad Formats section: 

    • For LinkedIn Audience Network - Select one of the following ad formats: Single image, carousel, document, or video. 
    • For CTV Ads - You must select video ad.
  3. In the Placements section, review the selections and confirm that the checkbox next to LinkedIn Audience Network is selected.

  4. Click the Exclude categories button. If no categories have previously been selected, click Edit Categories.

  5. From here, find the category and subcategories you’d like to exclude. You can either: 

    • Use keyword search - Enter the category name in the text field if you know the category you’re looking for. Once you find the category, select the checkbox next to the category. 
    • Review the list - Scroll through the list of categories and click the name once you find the one you’re looking for. Select the checkbox next to your preferred category or subcategory.
  6. After you select your categories, click Save.

  7. Finish creating your ad set and launch when you're ready.

Category blocking relies on how our partners and publishers set up blocking so the categories publishers align to may adjust by ad set. Learn more about the IAB category taxonomy.

Important to know

IAB categories are provided by our partner Pixalate, and could be updated or changed during your ad set run. We recommend that you review the categories throughout your ad set run and update your block or allow list as needed.
