  • Oh, what a night! For the first time ever, we opened our business train to the public — and we did it for a powerful purpose. Our Tracks of Hope event united community leaders for a memorable ride through Atlanta. Proceeds from ticket sales celebrated Hope Atlanta’s 125th anniversary and strengthened its mission to keep families housed, nourished, and connected to opportunity. This partnership runs deep. Hope Atlanta was founded in a train station, a historic connection that mirrors our own roots. And today, that shared commitment is stronger than ever, from our team’s hands-on volunteerism and company 2:1 employee donation match, to being honored as Corporate Hero of the Year at the 2025 Heroes for Hope Gala. As we say at NS, great things happen when we pull together. We’re proud to stand with Hope Atlanta and support communities across our network. 🚂 🔗 Learn more at https://lnkd.in/ehqTnGmq.

  • Our Operations leaders recently gathered at Brosnan Forest for the next in an ongoing series of Safety Summits. These are more than meetings — they’re opportunities to replicate what’s working and take action on what we can do better. The Elkhart Local Safety & Service Committee (LSSC) was also recognized for being named LSSC of the Quarter. Their outstanding efforts continue to set the standard for extreme ownership and committed leadership. 🔗 Learn more about the key themes and messages at https://lnkd.in/erqR3s8M. Safety Summits are a key part of our tiered approach to building a stronger safety culture at every level of our organization. Alongside Safety Camps, Safety Walkabouts, and more, each plays a crucial role in ensuring that we’re all on the same page — and ultimately, that every member of our team goes home the same way they arrived.

  • From legacy to electric, our next chapter with Scout Motors Inc. is on track. 🚂⚡🚘 Exciting progress in South Carolina: The Scout Motors I-77 Rail Bridge in Blythewood is officially complete — ahead of schedule! This new rail gateway will connect directly to Scout’s manufacturing campus and the thousands of jobs coming with it. From the original Scouts our predecessor railroads hauled in the 1960s to Scout’s next generation of electric off-road vehicles, this story has always run on rails — and we’re proud to help bring this iconic brand’s next chapter to life. Delivered through strong teamwork by the South Carolina Department of Transportation, Palmetto Railways, and United Infrastructure Group, the bridge gives NS the rail access we need to keep construction of our new yard moving, while keeping more traffic on rails and trucks off the highway. A little history. A lot of momentum. And a clear track toward the future of American manufacturing. 🇺🇸 📷: United Infrastructure Group

  • Team NS is proud to support Children's of Alabama. On Friday, CEO Mark George presented our gift to help the hospital expand its Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and strengthen simulation training. This gift is inspired by the families and care teams whose stories remind us that behind every hospital bed is a child with dreams, a family with hope, and a team fighting for their future. We’re honored to stand with Children’s of Alabama as they give more kids access to the care they need—because supporting our communities is part of what keeps us moving forward, together. 🔗 Learn more at https://lnkd.in/eT4H9udZ.

  • We're proud to introduce the Landmark Series — a new lineup of locomotives named for the cities that built America and keep us moving. 🚂 🇺🇸 From the craftsmanship of our Juniata team in Altoona, Pa. that produced the engines to every stripe and coat of paint, these locomotives are more than equipment, they’re rolling tributes to our communities. The first two in the series, Birmingham and Atlanta, are already on the move — hauling freight, leading our inspection trains, and connecting communities across our network. Each locomotive proudly carries the name of a city that has shaped America’s story and our railroad’s heritage! 🔗 Learn more at https://lnkd.in/eNCNj8aP.

At Norfolk Southern, we honor cultures and recently came together to celebrate Diwali — a tradition that inspires connection, learning, and joy. This year’s celebration reminded us of the values that unite us: kindness, resilience, and the power of light to guide us through challenges. It was wonderful to see colleagues and leaders, including Mark George, Annie Adams and Jason Zampi, actively participating. Their engagement reflects the inclusive culture we strive for every day. As we head into peak season, Diwali reminds us of what truly matters. Wishing peace, good health, and prosperity to all as we move into the holidays. May the light of Diwali continue to brighten our paths and inspire a future full of possibilities. Thank you, Team Norfolk Southern, for making this celebration so special!

  • Today, during a Special Meeting of Shareholders, Norfolk Southern shareholders voted overwhelmingly — with nearly 99% of the shares cast in favor — to approve the transaction with Union Pacific Railroad. As CEO Mark George shared, "The approval of our shareholders marks a key milestone in our journey to create America’s first coast-to-coast transcontinental railroad, combining complementary networks and capabilities to unlock a multiplier effect for benefits to all stakeholders. The merger will preserve union jobs and improve safety while delivering faster, more reliable transit times. Together with UP, we will make rail more competitive with highways, offering customers new, more attractive shipping alternatives, unleashing the industrial strength of American manufacturing and creating new sources of economic growth across the country.” 🔗 Learn more at https://lnkd.in/eqV8wxRq.

Today, we have reached a five-year collective bargaining agreement with the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen (BRS). This agreement covers nearly 970 dedicated and highly skilled BRS team members across our network, providing them with significant improvements to their pay, health care and vacation benefits. Our railroaders are the backbone of NS, and we appreciate the collaboration with BRS on behalf of our signal team. With this agreement, NS has reached ratified agreements with 12 of our 13 unions, and a tentative agreement is pending ratification by the final remaining union. 🔗 Learn more at https://lnkd.in/eAb6f6uM.
