It's the application of the open-source idea to any field outside of software, taking a function performed by people in an organization, such as reporting done by journalists, research and product development by scientists, or design of a T-shirt, for example, and, in effect, "outsourcing" it through an open-air broadcast on the Internet. Crowdsourcing has already had a huge impact on big companies like Procter & Gamble, as well as start-ups like Threadless.com, which rapidly became the third largest T-shirt maker in the United States. The fuel sparking the crowdsourcing flame is the potent combination of more highly educated people working in fields other than those in which they were trained with the greatest mechanism for distributing knowledge and information the world has ever seen: the Internet.

- 92. How to do?The Net Gen generations were influenced by the events of 9/11 and school shootings such as Columbine. They have been told that Social Security may not exist for them and have watched pensions and work security evaporate for their parents. Consequently, they are more loyal to colleagues and co-workers than to a company or manager. Work/life balance is extremely important for this group and they don’t want to sacrifice family time for career. This group LOVES technology and are considered technological natives. They grew up with it and are extremely talented at adopting new technology into their lives. The Net Gen generations presently make up 100% of students and about 51% of the workforce. This will increase to over 70% in the next ten years as Boomers begin retiring. But many people in management are Boomers with years of experience who may struggle with the Net Gen generations and their priorities.

- 94. A paradigm shifttakes place when the basic assumptions of technology, tools of technology do change the outcome too. The information technology is taking a new shape of knowledge society. This knowledge society in turn must go forward and should flourish into a society full of wisdom where `social inclusiveness has to be the primary goal. We must give importance to technology and social trust. I find that this new technology web 2.0 may work in this direction. Education2.0 The educational institutions must try to enhance group learning, group working, social development, and finally social transformation. Learning should change towards Gandhian education in a Gurukul culture located in the new reality of an Internet based society. DR BK PASSI

Social media is driven by active internet users, if you don’t use the internet regularly you a re unlikely to sign up for tools such as blogging or set up a social network profile. Active internet users drive adoption of platforms and tools; they will determine which tools and platforms become dominant in the social media space. They are the best proxy for the future, over time all internet users will increase their usage and eventually everyone will become an active users, just as consumers made the transition from occasional to regular TV watching in the 1950s and 1960s. Total penetration remains low, but among active Internet Users statistics are going in the right direction. More Indians are managing social network profiles at 78%, visiting friends’ social network pages (82%) and uploading photos – (77%). There are slight increases in the number watching videos and reading blogs up from 72.4% to 73.0% and 62.2% to 63.1% in the last six months, respectively. You might be surprised to see who and how many people have a profile on there. It surprised me to see that it has a high management and above membership base, means you top people, top alumni are there It almost feels like a secret club of sorts.

The fact that Internet Explorer is giving way to FireFox/ Chrome is interesting. A new world is out there But so what changed? 1 we work in a global much more competitive market, every single resource becomes more important, countries who did not play a mayor role in world economy suddently are big players 2 during the industrial revolution it was considered clearly to have a management (brain) and the workers (from whom was just expected to do the job) But nowadays the brain is everybody in the company. Ideas are suggested from just everybody from maintenance personal to the top management. This coined the expression of knowledge workers, but we have far past the knowledge management level 1 and with new technologies available to more and more eager and active users we truly can apply knowledge management – one of the killer applications of the age of web2 wikipedia shows it all too good 3 where as before our first workplace was most possibly as well our last, the chance that we could keep our knowledge within the company was pretty good Where our fathers might have started to work with IBM and will possibly go in their pension when leaving IBM What about your students? How many jobs will they have gone through when they touch their 35th birthday 4 technology supports the storage of even most difficult knowlegde through different medias like video, databases, podcasts, intra and extranets, google/ wikipedia brings the worlds combined knowledge to your fingertip. But only since we understand to use the internet the web2 way, we really started to understand the wisdom of the crowd, the importance of inclusion of everybody, the strengths of social networks and the feeling of belonging we can finally define new ways which touch not only our private and business life but more and more find the way into our classrooms Actually MUST find their way in our classrooms since else we do not prepare our students for the real world out their and will loose our competitive edge

- #46 Presentation Title 23 What does that mean for the real every day class or project work? For example, if a team was discussing the needs of a student with special needs, they could network in specialists from the district office or the county office, or a college professor in another state. If a team was analyzing data, they could collaborate virtually with data specialists who could offer their unique expertise virtually. Networks have now become so much a part of our lives that physical presence is no longer necessary for a member to “present.” Howard Rheingold calls this “presence of those who are absent.” PNLCs can call on a district specialist, consultants, teachers, and staff who are in different physical locations (even different time zones) and who will be able to collaborate, contribute, cooperate, and share just as if they were present physically. As I said since I started to involve my students into the marketing of our school, they not only become subworkers but become members, motivated stakeholders, knowledge workers

It has been created from freaks for freaks through such forums and discussions and loose networks mainly in the california area of the usa Prosumer is a portmanteau formed by contracting either the word pro fessional or pro ducer with the word con sumer . The term has taken on multiple conflicting meanings: the business sector sees the prosumer (professional–consumer) as a market segment , whereas economists see the prosumer (producer–consumer) as having greater independence from the mainstream economy . It can also be thought of as converse to the consumer with a passive role, denoting an active role as the individual gets more involved in the process. More recently, in the mental health field, the word "'prosumer'" has come to mean "consumer/provider," also known as a "peer provider," such as a Peer support specialist or other mental health consumer who also provides peer support mental health services ( background on peer-run mental health services ).
