About us
Our story began in September of 1993 when TASER International was founded by CEO Rick Smith with his brother Tom Smith. They consulted with Jack Cover, former NASA scientist and inventor of the original TASER® conducted energy weapons of the 1970s. Rick Smith was inspired to found the company after losing two high school football teammates who were shot and killed in a road rage incident. This experience led him to seek new technologies that would enable people to protect themselves without deploying lethal force in hopes of creating a bullet-less world. Today, Axon represents the entire network of devices, applications and people that is revolutionizing public safety around the world. Our mission is to protect life. We’re building the world’s largest and most trusted suite of public safety solutions. If you are seeking a career with purpose, we invite you to join us. Learn more at: axon.com/careers This is Our Moonshot Gun-related deaths between police and the public have risen steadily for at least the past six years. In 2021 in the U.S., 1,118 people — 1,054 civilians and 64 officers — lost their lives in gun-related incidents between police and the public, according to leading data sources. In response, Axon is rallying partners around a “moonshot” goal to cut gun-related deaths between police and the public by 50% by 2033.

Ottawa Police Service is rolling out Axon body-worn cameras as part of a broader effort to increase transparency, support mental health response and strengthen operational efficiency. Their expanded ecosystem of solutions now includes Axon Body 4 and the Axon AI Era Plan, building on existing tools like TASER devices. This connected approach gives officers fast access to information, clearer records of incidents and more time in the field. By equipping officers with tools that promote openness and informed response, Ottawa is aligning technology with their core objectives. “Through the mental change initiative, we’ve worked to ensure the rollout connects directly with our priorities, which are openness, learning and improving responses to mental health crisis.” Read more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gG3CEUWE Video credit: CTV News #Axon #ProtectLife

Across Tsuut’ina Nation, community-centered policing comes to life each day through officers who lead with presence, build on connection and cultivate trust through transparency. That trust isn’t built overnight. It’s strengthened over time through daily interactions and the technology that supports the Tsuut'ina Nation Police Service. Tools like body-worn cameras, TASER energy weapons and drone technology help reinforce that assurance by enabling clear communication, safer responses and stronger training. Historically, past generations of First Nation community members felt hesitant to rely on police. Today those relationships are evolving. Tsuut’ina Nation Police officers are showing that the past doesn’t have to define the future and that trust grows through human connection, shared experience and a renewed commitment to serve. As a founder, I’ve always believed that if you can wrap your arms around a problem before it fully shows up, you’ve got an incredible window to drive real impact. Years ago, I started paying close attention to drones and robotics—not as science fiction, but as the next major frontier in public safety and defense. That curiosity sparked some powerful collaborations. And now? The future we were anticipating has arrived. Airspace is the new front line. The threats are real, but so is the opportunity—to lead, to innovate, and to build the systems that will define the next era of safety. 🔗 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gsGYMzUv

Last week, we hosted our first-ever Prepared by Axon CEO Summit, bringing together 911 professionals from across the country alongside Prepared CEO Michael Chime and Axon CEO + Founder Rick Smith for a conversation centered around the future of emergency response. Today’s 911 centers are facing real challenges. Call volumes are rising, staffing levels are shrinking and outdated infrastructure makes it harder for dispatchers to do the job they signed up for. Prepared by Axon is working to change that, equipping 911 professionals with next-gen tools and technology that help turn chaos into clarity the moment a call comes in. This CEO Summit was focused on listening to the people who power our nation’s emergency systems, understanding their realities and collaborating on solutions that will help them respond with greater confidence. Thank you to everyone who joined us to help move the needle on what’s possible in 911. #Axon #ProtectLife

It starts with one car window smashed in a quiet neighborhood overnight. By morning, several more vehicles on the block have been hit. The suspects are long gone but nearby home security cameras have captured critical details that could help the investigation. This is just one scenario in which neighbors could play a powerful role in keeping their city safe. Axon Community Connect is a voluntary, permission-based program that helps law enforcement request video footage directly from residents and businesses when an incident happens nearby. Footage is only shared with law enforcement when the owner grants permission. By registering their existing security cameras, participants help streamline investigations and support faster, more effective responses. A newborn’s first breath came not in a hospital but during a traffic stop in Deming, New Mexico. Late at night on patrol, New Mexico State Police Officer Ismael Perez pulled over a car that had run a stop sign. Inside, he found a mother and father in crisis. Their baby had just been delivered, still attached by the umbilical cord and wasn’t breathing. With no medical assistance and no time to wait, Officer Perez cleared the baby’s airway and helped him take his first breath. Then he looked up and gave the father news he’ll never forget: “It’s a boy.” These are the moments that define service and the kind of bravery the RISE Awards were created to honor. If you know someone who deserves to be recognized, nominations are open through December 31 for the 2026 #AxonAwards at axon.com/awards #Axon #ProtectLife
