More than 50 years ago, we opened our first hotel in Mexico - Holiday Inn Acapulco in 1970 - marking the start of an uninterrupted journey in one of our most established markets. The region also holds a special place in our global story as the cradle of the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts brand, with the very first InterContinental opening its doors in Belém, Brazil, in 1946. Today, our footprint in Latin America spans 25 countries, with 289 hotels open and 105 more in the pipeline, reflecting both our deep commitment and the vast potential of this vibrant region. We are expanding across every segment, from the signing of six new voco Hotels in Mexico to the debut of the Vignette Collection in South America with SOUMA Hotel Lima in Peru. Recently, some of our Southwest Asia leaders - Sudeep Jain, Deepali Bhardwaj and Rajni Gupta - visited Dr. R N Cooper Municipal General Hospital in Nehru Nagar, India, to see the positive impact that our partnership with is having first-hand. They met mothers and health workers, witnessing how early intervention and specialised care are helping children overcome severe malnutrition. Hearing directly from families about the impact of these initiatives was a powerful reminder of why our partnership matters. In just one year, our global partnership with Action Against Hunger has provided malnutrition screenings for over 4.5 million pregnant women and children under five, trained local health workers, and supported families in some of the world’s hardest-to-reach communities.
