  • Energy plays a critical role in enabling New Zealand’s productivity and economic growth. “Competitively priced energy underpins both our ability to grow globally successfully export industries, and retain domestically focused industries competing with imported alternatives,” says Adam Coxhead, Head of Sustainable Finance at BNZ. “The good news is there are a number of no-regrets actions businesses can take to develop an energy management plan that enhances energy resilience and positions them well for the future”. • Building confidence in property decisions starts with understanding the cycle.      That’s why we’ve partnered with The Curve to make property and investing education accessible and engaging for everyone on the journey to home ownership.      In Episode 7 of The Property Podcast – the second part of our double feature – Vic and Soph delve deeper into the property cycle, exploring its four key stages, why interest rates and prices move like a seesaw, and how your own time horizon matters more than trying to “pick the bottom”.      They discuss how local factors, global trends, and even human behaviour shape the market, and share practical tips for using equity, managing risk, and making sense of where we are right now.       Whether you’re buying your first home, investing, or just curious about the market, this episode offers insights to help you make informed decisions, no matter the stage you’re at.      🎧 Listen to the latest episode of The Property Podcast on YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts.  https://lnkd.in/gjYcfyBw

  • Building wealth can feel overwhelming, whether you’re starting late, starting over, or starting from scratch. That’s why we’ve teamed up with The Curve, who show how it’s possible while making investing education accessible, engaging, and fun.     In Episode 6 of The Property Podcast (part one of a double feature), Vic and Soph break down property cycles in clear, relatable language - think seasons, seesaws, and real-life stories.     They explore how these cycles impact interest rates, what local ‘microclimates’ mean, where government policies play a part, and how property compares to other asset types.     In part two, they'll be diving deeper into how long these cycles actually last, where we are right now, and what to watch for if you’re planning to buy or sell.     🎧 Check out this episode of The Property Podcast on YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts. https://lnkd.in/gnGE3dDB

  • Taking your first step into dairy farming can feel daunting, but you don’t have to do it alone. At BNZ, we understand the challenges new farmers face, and we’re here to help. That’s why we’ve launched First Farm, a new initiative to make it easier for aspiring dairy farmers to purchase their first farm or herd. We’re lowering deposit requirements for eligible first-time buyers and those purchasing their first dairy herd. But it’s about more than finance: every First Farm customer is matched with an experienced farmer mentor for their first two seasons, offering real, one-on-one support with business planning, budgeting, people decisions, and succession planning. As Dave Handley, BNZ’s General Manager Agribusiness and Corporate Banking, says: “For many young farmers, getting their first foothold on the farming ladder is very challenging. First Farm is about bridging that gap by making ownership more achievable. Every farming customer participating in our First Farm programme will be matched with an experienced farmer mentor who has been through the highs and lows of herd or farm ownership and knows what it takes to make a farming business succeed.” We’re committed to backing the next generation of farmers and making sure no one has to go it alone. While we’re starting with dairy, we intend to bring more initiatives to market for other agri sectors soon. If you’re ready to take your first step, we’re here for you. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/ga4ZHtdx Eligibility criteria, lending criteria, terms and conditions and fees apply. Approved borrowers will join the First Farm Mentorship Programme. The First Farm Package has limited availability and is subject to change. Deposit requirements and pricing are assessed on a case-by-case basis

  • E te kāhui maunga o Taranaki, kia tāruaruahia anō ngā mihi ki a koutou. This week the inaugural National Māori Energy Summit was held in Ngāmotu / New Plymouth, bringing together iwi and the energy sector to discuss current challenges and long-term solutions. We are proud to be a founding sponsor of the Summit. “We’re committed to working alongside our Māori entities, energy providers, and communities on New Zealand’s energy infrastructure, mō te painga o te katoa”, says Taurua Grant, Head of Māori Investment at BNZ. “As New Zealand’s largest business bank, we see a role for BNZ connecting our Māori entities and energy clients to expand New Zealand’s energy portfolio through collaboration and innovation, helping Māori entities to achieve their commercial aspirations, and enabling the broader social aspirations of Māori communities. “Māori have a whakapapa connection to the whenua (land) and the taiao (environment). Alongside the long-term investment horizon of Māori entities, which aligns with the long-term nature of energy generation and infrastructure assets, this highlights Māori entities as ideal investment partners.
