Our purpose is creating better futures together – it’s what we do, who we are and why we come to work every day. Today on National Agriculture Day we’re highlighting just a few of the thousands of stories of innovation we hear from farmers around Australia – you can have a read here: https://lnkd.in/gkz35MYY

Today on National Ag Day, I am reminded why I love my job! I get to spend most of my time sitting around kitchen tables and going out in the paddocks with some of the best people in Australia – our farmers – who are feeding and clothing all of us, while innovating like you wouldn’t believe. And then at the end of the day I get to head back to my mixed cropping and cattle farm in Toowoomba and live the dream in my downtime too. The theme for this year’s Ag Day, ‘stand with the land’, feels particularly relevant. The most rewarding part of my job is being able to support farmers not just during the good harvests or when meat prices are high, but through the tough times - of which there are many. It’s about being there through the generations, not just the seasons. Today on Westpac Wire we’re highlighting just a few of the thousands of stories of innovation we hear from farmers around Australia – you can have a read here: https://lnkd.in/gkz35MYY There is nothing more important than a thriving agriculture industry, and we’re lucky to have so many hard-working people in Australia who are combining generations of knowledge with the latest innovations that will set this country up for the future. What a privilege it is to work alongside them. "You have to heat your wok – screaming hot." Ken from Cha Ching in Melbourne doesn't mess around when it comes to fried rice. Day-old rice, commercial wok heat, and that perfect char that makes all the difference. This week on Anthony Eats, I got to experience what's made Cha Ching a Melbourne hotspot. Their food is incredible and their viral 'Weekend at Tiffany' cocktail has racked up millions of views online. When Ken was setting up the restaurant, Westpac brought the contract to him because they understood how busy restaurant life is. That's what proper small business support looks like – meeting people where they are and making banking work around the business, not the other way around. Now they're celebrating three years with a brilliant promotion: roll a lucky three on their dice, and your meal is FREE. Are you ready to roll the dice? What are you waiting for?

Today we’ve announced two important steps to better serve regional Australia. We’re extending Westpac’s moratorium on regional branch closures through to 2030, and we’re launching a new Community Banking Service pilot to bring more face-to-face support to regional Australia. These initiatives follow a comprehensive review of our regional services and reflect our commitment to building strong regional communities, which are vital to our nation’s success. We know most of our customers now prefer to bank with us digitally. But we also know the importance of personal connection, especially in our regions. It’s important we get the balance right and show up for our customers in the way they want – whether that’s in-person, digitally or virtually. I’m looking forward to launching our Community Banking Service trial early next year, starting in Dungog, Bulahdelah and Manilla in regional New South Wales.

Today, she’s backing farming families across New England and helping them thrive through good times and tough seasons.   Our program continues to create careers in regional centres so young Australians can stay local, support their communities, and grow with the industries that keep Australia moving forward. #BackAustralia #LoveYourLocal #Agribusiness

Cereberus Beach House at Half Moon Bay, Black Rock is bringing Aussie classics to the local community. "Anything from the ocean is on our menu. And all wines from the peninsula, the best of what Australia has to offer." This is what supporting local looks like, a business that invests in its fishers, winemakers, and community. Plus, you can swim before your meal. It doesn't get more Australian than that. #BackAustralia #LoveYourLocal

Have we found Australia’s best fish and chips? This week on Anthony Eats, we’re at Cereberus Beach House at Half Moon Bay, Black Rock. A hidden gem that’s 39 minutes from the heart of Melbourne and is in an old boatshed. They have a takeaway offering downstairs and a seafood restaurant upstairs, with gorgeous views and an epic sunset. Jamie Helliwell and Erica’s approach is refreshingly simple: "Everything that we use has to be local. Anything from the ocean is on our menu. All wines are from the peninsula." This is what supporting local actually looks like, a business that invests in its fishers, winemakers, and community. Plus, you can swim before your meal. It doesn't get more Australian than that. Watch the full episode and read more about their story in News Corp’s Back Australia campaign.

Thank you Moree for a warm welcome as we officially opened the doors to our new Regional Service Centre this week.   It’s been a great opportunity to catch up with our local customers, bankers and community leaders over the past couple of days – it’s clear we share a commitment to seeing the region move from strength to strength.    The new centre will help us improve banking services in Moree, including for our business and agribusiness customers.   And this is just the beginning. Regional Australia is vital to the economy and we continue to explore ways we can invest in these communities to help unlock their full potential.   I look forward to opening our next two centres in Smithton and Leongatha.
