Disappointed to see Westpac walk back its deforestation commitment. You were leading the charge, don’t go backwards now!

Big bank = big profit. Westpac could be a strong leader on sustainability in Australia, yet big business 'economic growth and profit' always seem to win over the financial health & wellbeing of people and the environment that sustains all life.

Walking away from protecting the environment and not investing in deforestation undermines the reason why many of us bank with you.

As a 30+ year account holder with Westpac, I'm angry that they have cowardly backpedalled on their commitment to avoiding deforestation. Reneging on your deforestation policy is an absolute betrayal of those customers who trusted you to do better. Lift your game or pick up the dead Australian fauna you'll be responsible for killing and prop them up in your bank branches before you close them all.

As one of your customers I am aware so many people have chosen Westpac because of your environmental commitments. Reneging on your deforestation policy is a betrayal of those customers who trusted you to do better. Yep clarified I need to move to a those more ethical bank!!!!

I was one of many people who chose Westpac because of its environmental commitments. Reneging on your deforestation policy is a betrayal of those customers who trusted you to do better. Very shortsighted !

Why are you weakening your standards on deforestation? Westpac customers want to be proud of their bank, not ashamed.

Not good enough Westpac. Reneging on commitment to deforestation just confirms to me that Westpac is no different to any other corporate. Please reconsider and lift your game.
