🚽It’s World Toilet Day! A good opportunity to remember that #sanitation protects us from disease transmitted through water resources and preserves our environment. Focus on the #Saniforce deployed by the Veolia Foundation, a low-energy, local, sanitary fecal sludge treatment solution for humanitarian emergencies, and designed to treat the contents of septic tanks and latrine pits for up to 500 people: this mobile sanitation unit is able to treat 500L/d of sludge with a 99.9% reduction in pathogens. Alongside its partners Opero, Sistemia.bio, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Bangladesh, the Ugandan Red Cross with the World Food Program (UN), the Veolia Foundation is taking part in programs in #Kenya, #Uganda and #Bangladesh to test this system in real-life situations and provide humanitarian aid workers with a reliable, adaptable solution that can be dismantled, has low energy consumption, and can be deployed and operated by local teams. 🔗 Learn more about Saniforce: https://lnkd.in/e8HhiQ5h

📣 Veolia deploys for the first time in France (in Gironde) an innovative electricity #flexibility solution at a waste recovery site, the Lapouyade Industrial Ecologue Hub, operated by the Group. Since 2015, this site has been converting local non-recyclable waste into #biogas, injecting 45,000 MWh/year of electricity into the grid (equivalent to the consumption of over 20,000 residents) and producing 38,000 MWh/year of heat for local producers’ greenhouses. In the event of an imbalance between production and consumption on the national grid, Lapouyade can temporarily adjust its output to restore balance and prevent voltage fluctuations or power outages. Veolia plans to deploy this solution across 25 sites in France in the coming months, further confirming its position as a key player in #energy flexibility and a partner of the French electricity system. 🔗 Read the press release: https://lnkd.in/ebAymYWW #EcologicalTransformation
