  • 🏉 Celebrating community, culture and the spirit of the Euabalong Tigers at the 2025 Dubbo Waratahs Rugby League Knockout Carnival. Community connection is at the heart of everything we do at Veolia | Australia and New Zealand. From creating local employment opportunities to supporting grassroots initiatives, we're committed to being active partners in the regions where we live and work. This year, our Woodlawn Eco-Precinct in Tarago was honoured to sponsor the Euabalong Tigers — an all-Indigenous rugby league team competing in the lead-up to the Koori Knockout. Our team member Michael Dodson, a proud Wiradjuri man with over a decade of involvement in the Knockout, stepped up as coach for the Tigers this year. It was a weekend filled with spirit, determination, and community pride. While the trophy eluded them this time, the Tigers captured it perfectly: "Bigger, better, stronger next year." Massive congratulations to the Euabalong Tigers for their passion, teamwork, and unwavering community spirit. We can't wait to see what you achieve next season! #Community #VeoliaANZ #KKO2025 #EuabalongTigers

  • From plate to paddock – now in print. 📖 Waste Management Review went behind the scenes at our EarthPower facility in NSW in their latest edition, with Carmen Loecherer unpacking the fascinating science that makes it all work. 🔬 So, how do you turn food waste into electricity? It all starts with nature’s recyclers – bacteria. Organic waste enters sealed digesters maintained at a precise 38-40°C🌡️ – the sweet spot for microbial activity. Inside, microorganisms break down the waste and produce biogas (55-65% methane). That biogas powers generators to create electricity.  The heat generated? It's captured and cycled back through the facility, keeping those digesters at optimal temperature. As Carmen puts it: "We're creating the perfect environment for microorganisms to turn waste into something valuable. It's like being a farmer  – but instead of crops, we're cultivating bacteria that consume waste and produce energy." Precision science meeting practical sustainability. 🌱 Thanks to Waste Management Review for exploring the EarthPower story in depth. Find out more about EarthPower here: https://lnkd.in/gc772WGa

  • 30-35 tonnes per hour. 500 tonnes daily. One powerful mission. ♻️ For #NationalRecyclingWeek, we're spotlighting our Bibra Lake Material Recovery Facility — where WA's waste becomes tomorrow's resources. The challenge? WA's plastic recycling rate sits at just 6.9%. Businesses need solutions that work, not add complexity. Our answer: ✅ Accept mixed recycling — no pre-sorting required ✅ Process 7 material types including plastics, metals, cardboard/paper and glass ✅ Deploy AI-powered robotics achieving 95% sorting accuracy ✅ Powered by on-site solar The result? We're boosting recovery rates by up to 75% whilst making sustainability simpler for Perth businesses. 🌍 Every tonne we process is 750kg diverted from landfill and returned to manufacturing. That's ecological transformation in action — and it's why we do what we do. 💬 Want to learn how we can transform your waste into opportunity? Let's talk.

  • ♻️ It's National Recycling Week in Australia and we're on a mission. At Veolia | Australia and New Zealand, we believe in ecological transformation — turning waste into resources and building a truly circular economy. But here's the thing: recycling right starts with understanding where your recyclables actually go. Our video takes you behind the scenes — from your kerbside bin to where it actually ends up. If we all understand the journey better, we can recycle smarter. This week, we're championing better recycling habits — empowering communities and businesses to reduce contamination and maximise resource recovery. • 🏆 What an incredible evening at the The King's Trust Australia Awards 2025! Last night, our CEO and MD Richard Kirkman had the privilege of presenting the Veolia Sustainability Award to Shannon Lemanski, founder of Aqua Ubique. As Gold Sponsor, this partnership means so much to us. It's about more than recognition — it's about championing the innovators who are actively creating the sustainable future we all need. 💧 Shannon’s impact: As an Army veteran and mechanical engineer, he's revolutionising access to clean water through Atmospheric Water Generation technology — literally creating water from air. His ambitious goal? 300 million litres per day by 2032. This aligns perfectly with our mission to decarbonise, depollute and regenerate our world. 👏 A night to remember: Richard was joined by Kate Moonen, Anja Bonnard, and inspiring guests including: → Saia Faingaa, retired Wallaby and cultural mentor for our QLD Future Forward program → C. B. Uncle Neal McGarrity, Cultural Advisor and mentor for our Future Forward program participants and employees → Reggie Zaro and ella ahwang, two Future Forward participants now thriving in their Veolia careers Seeing our Future Forward participants there reminded us why this work matters. Through our partnership with The King's Trust Australia, we're creating real pathways for young Indigenous Australians in environmental services. 🌿 Congratulations also to the exceptional finalists: → Dominic Smith, DIRAMU Skincare → Dr Adele Pile and Stuart Alexander, Great Barrier Reef Safaris This is ecological transformation in action.

  • 🐢 Meet Vurtle the Turtle! We're thrilled to announce the name of our stunning turtle sculpture, created entirely from beach waste collected along Australian coastlines. After receiving so many creative suggestions from our community and team, we're excited to introduce: Vurtle the Turtle! 🎉 Vurtle has been calling Taronga Zoo Sydney home since late September, raising awareness about the devastating impact of plastic pollution on our marine wildlife. Made from fishing nets, ship waste, packaging, and even toothbrushes found on our beaches, Vurtle is a powerful message. You still have time to visit! Vurtle will be on display at Taronga Zoo Sydney until Sunday 9th November, before moving to our Pyrmont Head Office in Sydney where it will continue to inspire action. Every year, over 40 marine turtles are admitted to Taronga Wildlife Hospital after ingesting plastic or becoming entangled in debris. Through our long-standing partnership with Taronga Conservation Society Australia, we're supporting vital turtle rehabilitation, release programs and satellite tracking initiatives. A huge thank you to renowned artist David Day for bringing Vurtle to life, and to everyone who participated in naming our newest team member. 🌊 Ready to make a difference? Join our #VeoliaTurtleCircle CleanUp Challenge and help protect our oceans and marine life here: https://lnkd.in/gdekKQcE 💭 Have you met Vurtle yet? Share your photos and tag us!

  • 🎃 This Halloween, let's talk about something truly terrifying... 🔋👻 Batteries in your bin. While the spooky season is all fun and games, the fire risk from improperly disposed lithium batteries is frighteningly real. Every year, batteries from mobile phones, laptops, vapes, power tools and toys spark dangerous fires at recycling and waste facilities across Australia. These incidents put our team at serious risk and disrupt essential services for entire communities. 🚨 The scary truth: When lithium batteries are crushed or damaged during waste processing, they can ignite – causing fires that are difficult to control and incredibly dangerous. ⚠️ Other hazardous items that don't belong in your bins: • Paint and chemicals • Gas bottles • Motor oil • Electronics • Light globes • Pesticides ✅ The safe (and not scary) solution: Visit your local Council website to find proper disposal options for hazardous waste. Let's keep our communities safe and our essential workers protected. This Halloween, the only fires we want to see are the ones in your carved pumpkin! 🎃🔥 💬 Are you disposing of your batteries safely? Share your tips below. Note: AI helped us with this image
