Have Your Say: Help Improve Support for Unpaid Carers Through Carer Gateway. You are invited to participate in a survey to help the Australian Government improve support services for unpaid carers. Complete the survey: https://lnkd.in/gFnBKiuF This survey has a focus on: • how to improve counselling and mental health support • exploring options to improve access to respite for unpaid carers • ways to appropriately support unpaid carers from First Nations, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and LGBTQIA+ communities, carers with disability, carers of veterans, and young carers. The survey will ask you: • What you think could make the biggest difference for supporting carers • What better support for carers could look like. You can participate if you provide unpaid care, support or assistance to someone who: • has a disability; or • has a medical condition (including a terminal or chronic illness); or • has a mental illness; or • is frail and aged. The survey is open until 19 November 2025.

🏳️⚧️ Transgender Awareness Week (13 to 19 November) is a time to increase visibility and understanding of transgender, gender diverse and non-binary people, and to highlight the barriers many continue to face. It’s a week for learning, advocacy and allyship — when trans people and allies share stories, build awareness, and take action to end prejudice, discrimination and violence. We all share a responsibility to listen to trans and gender diverse voices, engage in open and respectful conversations, challenge assumptions, and reflect inclusion and respect in how we speak, work and care for one another. Visual: A hand holds up a transgender flag against a blue, pink, and white gradient background. Text reads, “Trans Awareness Week.” The LGBTIQ+ Health Australia logo appears in the corner.

1 November marks the launch of the new Aged Care Act. This Act is person-centred, prioritising individual dignity, rights, and choice when receiving care. Marcia, from the LHA Silver Pride Advocacy Network — Living Experience Advisory Panel, says “It’s an exciting day. For the first time the rights of older people accessing government funded aged care services are enshrined in law through the Statement of Rights.” Marcia supported both her parents through the aged care process. She is passionate about advocating for the rights of older people to be respected and supported as they age. Visual: Two people stand and talk. The person on the left wears a black T-shirt and light pants, and the person on the right uses a cane and wears a white cardigan. Text beside them reads about the new Aged Care Act and includes a quote from Marcia (She/They), Silver Pride Advocacy Network — Living Experience Advisory Panel. It also shows the LGBTIQ+ Health Australia and Silver Pride logo.
