LGBTIQ+ Health Australia’s Post

1 November marks the launch of the new Aged Care Act. This Act is person-centred, prioritising individual dignity, rights, and choice when receiving care. Marcia, from the LHA Silver Pride Advocacy Network — Living Experience Advisory Panel, says “It’s an exciting day. For the first time the rights of older people accessing government funded aged care services are enshrined in law through the Statement of Rights.” Marcia supported both her parents through the aged care process. She is passionate about advocating for the rights of older people to be respected and supported as they age. Visual: Two people stand and talk. This is fantastic news, it's great to see the rights of older people enshrined in law, particularly for those accessing aged care services.
