Meet the 'Rig 200,' our first semi-autonomous, remote-capable backfill drill rig at Olympic Dam in South Australia. By allowing operators to work from up to 10 meters away from the drill hole, we have enhanced safety and efficiency, offering: ✅ Reduced exposure to high-pressure air zones ✅ Improved handling of heavy equipment ✅ Minimized noise levels and manual tasks Safety remains our top priority. Olympic Dam is one of the world's most significant deposits of copper, gold, and uranium. 🔋 The first brand-new, purpose-built heavy-haul battery-electric locomotives in Australia have arrived in Port Hedland - marking a big step forward on our operational decarbonisation journey. Purpose-built to withstand the region’s tough terrain and long distances, these heavy-haul battery-electric locomotives will be put to the test when they begin proof of concept trials across our Pilbara iron ore rail network. 🌱Meet Trent and Nico - our Specialist Environmental Scientist and Environmental Technician at Carrapateena in South Australia. Together, they lead our Program for Environment Protection and Rehabilitation, where listening to nature is part of the job. From decoding soil samples and tracking water quality to conducting fauna surveys, Trent and Nico collect and analyse environmental data to help BHP protect biodiversity and operate sustainably. Carrapateena produces copper concentrate and is one of the largest mining projects in South Australia in the last decade. #BHP #Mining #Environment
