🔋 The first brand-new, purpose-built heavy-haul battery-electric locomotives in Australia have arrived in Port Hedland - marking a big step forward on our operational decarbonisation journey. Purpose-built to withstand the region’s tough terrain and long distances, these heavy-haul battery-electric locomotives will be put to the test when they begin proof of concept trials across our Pilbara iron ore rail network. A huge thank you to Wabtec Corporation and to the teams and partners who made this possible. Trials of these locos will begin very soon! #ThinkBig #BatteryElectricLoco
Would love to see inside the cab and engine room?¿ if that's what you would still call it.
A huge milestone! Will be great to see these on the move.

4dMy dad, Professor Keith Bullock proposed this about 30 years ago. His technology is what you drive in a Toyota Carmy today ( something he designed and built in UQ in 1978). His rail technology was also really good and I still have all the designs. It included diesel/ battery and nearly got developed beore a government change to labour which turned everything off.
