Careers for technical writers in today’s world

 Today’s workforce offers a plethora of jobs
that require the skills technical writing skills
to complete. From grant writers to
copywriters, this presentation will discuss just
a few of the options available to technical
writers.
 Many companies hire workers for the sole
purpose of writing grant proposals. These
workers need technical writing skills to
communicate complex information about a
company and its goals to government
agencies or other grant sponsors.
 Companies often require employees with
technical writing skills to assist in the
marketing of their products and services.
There are many other related marketing
positions that also require a firm grasp of
technical writing, leaving many opportunities
for job-seekers with such a skill-set.
 In a world where the internet has become
such a large part of people’s lives, many
technical writers are needed in the
telecom/wireless industry in order to create
and maintain user wikis, facilitate questions
and answers on online forums, and much
more.
 Companies all over the world need to engage
in both print and digital communication with
customers and other businesses. To do this,
they need communications writers. These
employees need technical writing skills in
order to be clear and concise when tasks
such as creating press releases must be
undertaken.
