Photocopier Functions It can take an  exact  copy of a document It can make copies  larger or smaller  (enlarge or reduce) It can be used to  darken  copies or  lighten  copies

Laminator Coats paper or thin card in transparent plastic Card is protected and durable Useful if handled a lot Uses: ID cards, instruction sheets, notices
BINDERS Binds or fastens lots of documents together. Spiral Binder Holes are punched down the left edge and a plastic spiral spine is fitted into the holes (your homework diary is like this) Flat Comb Binder Plastic strips are placed down the left edge of the papers and the binder heats the plastic strips to seal the document pages together GOOD FOR: Reports Instruction booklets
Reprographics Training
What type of training is required?   Reprographics staff will need to be trained. Training may include: how to use the different types of equipment how to carry out routine tasks, eg changing toner cartridges or adding paper health and safety issues related to the use of equipment.
Training Considerations HR Dept. arrange training and will consider: The current skill levels of staff level of training required, eg basic or advanced time available for training, eg during working hours or evenings/weekends - “on-the-job” or “off-the-job”   equipment available for training cost of training availability of specialist trainers.
In-House Copying In order for reprographics to be undertaken “in-house” the following points should be considered: the purchase of equipment is costly   the day-to-day running costs of the equipment can be costly, eg replacement of toner, paper  staff may need to be trained to use the equipment and carry out routine maintenance.
External Agencies Specialists in their field Dedicated to the particular task Have professional,  state-of-the-art equipment  and resources
Advantages and Disadvantages of ‘In-House’ Copying Tasks completed quickly Work can be prioritised No additional costs incurred Initial cost likely to be high Staff need to be trained in equipment Equipment must be capable of tasks required Equipment must be serviced regularly
Advantages and Disadvantages of External Agencies Firms offer expertise Able to produce glossy brochures etc. more easily Specialist staff employed Cost effective for high volume Specialist equipment used May be difficult to specify exactly what is required May be costly for small volumes of work May be time delay between proof and final copies
