At Talkspace we see the value of asynchronous (aka message-based) therapy in practice every day, and we’re proud to announce a new addition to the clinical studies supporting its efficacy. 📲 Our research team partnered with researchers from the University of Washington on an NIH-funded (R44 MH124334) randomized clinical trial comparing asynchronous therapy with live video therapy for the treatment of depression. The findings? Message-based therapy is as effective as live video at improving symptoms and social functioning, and message therapy improved client engagement. The study authors concluded that broader insurance reimbursement for asynchronous therapy could improve access, and we’re grateful for our payer partners who already recognize the value of this powerful, proven care modality.
