It was a pleasure to speak at the 2025 Von Braun Space Exploration Symposium on the first panel, Commercial Horizons: NASA’s Lunar and Mars Payload Services - Innovation, Technology, and Cost-Effective Access. We're applying the “Test Like You Fly” philosophy to the Griffin lander as it prepares for a mission to the lunar south pole. The engineering team is performing extensive system-level tests, including hardware-in-the-loop simulations, environmental testing, and hazard-detection evaluations. This approach confirms that the lander and all supporting systems work together under conditions that closely match the mission environment. It strengthens mission readiness and reduces risk by identifying potential issues before launch. The Griffin program demonstrates the importance of testing for performance, reliability, and integration in complex aerospace projects.
