A new model is revealing that there may be more meadows in the Sierra Nevada than previously estimated. This summer, American Rivers began a multi-year effort alongside the South Yuba River Citizens League and the USDA Forest Service to find out how many "lost meadows" there really are in the North Yuba watershed in Northern California. American Rivers is today announcing our disapproval of the Environmental Protection Agency’s new proposed definition of the “Waters of the United States” (WOTUS) provision of the Clean Water Act. As written currently, the rule would dramatically reduce the reasonable science-based protections used to protect our wetlands, streams, lakes, and rivers across the country.
