American Rivers is today announcing our disapproval of the Environmental Protection Agency’s new proposed definition of the “Waters of the United States” (WOTUS) provision of the Clean Water Act. As written currently, the rule would dramatically reduce the reasonable science-based protections used to protect our wetlands, streams, lakes, and rivers across the country. It's time for states to step up and protect their wetlands through promulgatation of their own regulations. Many states have had regulations on the books for decades, it's time for everyone else to follow suit. People across political ideologies care about water quality, wetlands, intact wildlife habitat, etc. I hope American Rivers and others will help states get this important work done.

3dAgreed and kudos to American Rivers for calling this out for the farce it is. The EPA has lost a tremendous amount of credibility in the last ~10 months.
