The past week has been challenging for the airline industry, including the #AATeam and our customers. Despite difficult circumstances, our team members have stepped up to take care of our customers throughout the shutdown-related travel disruptions. I’m proud of how our team has responded and remain truly grateful for the federal aviation workers who faced challenging conditions for weeks without pay, all to get travelers where they needed to go safely. Our priorities have been to take care of our customers and limit disruption to their travel plans as much as possible. That's the same approach we’ll take as we return to normal operations, which will mean predictability for our customers and our team. Because of our planning and work to minimize customer impacts throughout this period, we’re ready for business and expect to deliver a strong Thanksgiving operation. We look forward to welcoming you on board an American Airlines flight.

Per FAA requirements, we have reduced flight schedules by 4% at 40 airports Friday, Nov. 7, through Monday, Nov. 10, amounting to about 220 flights canceled each day. Even with these cancellations, we plan to operate around 6,000 daily flights. We’re deeply grateful to federal aviation workers who continue working without pay to keep our skies safe. We have resumed operations in Jamaica following Hurricane Melissa, with daily departing flights between Miami and Kingston.
