The introduction of the Trent 1000 XE follows the successful certification of a package of improvements including a new High Pressure Turbine (HPT) blade that has been engineered for longer life. With a comprehensive blade and cooling system redesign that delivers a 40% increase in cooling flow, we are significantly reducing the temperature of the blade and dramatically increasing the engines time on wing. We are very pleased that Rolls-Royce SMR will be working with the local community at Wylfa, on Ynys Môn (Anglesey), to establish the first three Rolls-Royce Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). This is another important milestone on the journey towards delivering the greater energy security and resilience, as well as economic growth, that SMRs can create.

Earlier today we updated the market on our trading since the half year, with strong performance across the Group in line with our expectations. This builds further confidence in our operating profit and free cash flow guidance for the full year – which we raised at the time of our half year results in the Summer. Our trading update shows continued progress on our transformation programme. We are creating a high performing, competitive, resilient and growing Rolls-Royce. The strategic choices and operational improvements that we have made and the benefits they are bringing, are delivering profitable growth and enabling us to invest and further strengthen our balance sheet. In Civil Aerospace, demand for our engines and aftermarket services remains strong, while demand for products from our Defence division remains robust. In Power Systems, continued strong order intake and revenue growth has been led by our power generation segment where demand is being driven by the needs of the data centre market. We are continuing to strengthen our balance sheet, enabled by our growing cash delivery. Our mtu Series 4000 gensets are protecting critical air transport infrastructure against extreme temperatures at Kuwait International Airport. Seven gensets are being installed at the airport’s new terminal to deliver backup power in the event of an outage. Engineered for ambient temperatures up to 55°C, these units are built for reliability in extreme conditions.
