There are 2 types of combustor in CFM 56 ENGINE: SAC: Single Annular Combustor. DAC: Dual Annular Combustor. CCNIDP refers to Core Chevron Nozzel, so if STANDARD nozzel configuration installed, CCNIDP must be set to "N"(NO). Standard nozzel configuration is identified by a smooth conical exit surface. Core Chevron Nozzel is identified by chevrons (triangular) round circumference of the exit surface.

AD of the Week: 2025-20-18 Cracked Cylinder Heads? Coolant Tells the Story! Continental’s TAE 125-02-125 engines are under the microscope. This directive mandates a coolant analysis to detect elevated aluminum or fluoride, an indicator for internal cracking. If contamination is found, you’re looking at cylinder head replacement. Key Actions: ⚡Initial sampling: Required once the engine reaches 50 flight hours since new or since last coolant replacement.  ⚡If aluminum or fluoride contamination is found:  ⚡Replace affected cylinder heads.  ⚡Flush and refill the cooling system. Note: The AD incorporates Continental SB CG 125-1030 P1, Rev 4, but heads up; Rev 6 is already out. The root cause of the cylinder head damage remains undetermined, but operators are hopeful Continental’s engineering team will pinpoint it soon. 🚀 Understanding the Turbine Case Cooling System (TCCS) In a jet engine, precision is everything — even the tiniest change in temperature can affect efficiency and safety. The Turbine Case Cooling System (TCCS) plays a vital role in maintaining the turbine’s structural stability and performance. 🌀 What does it do? The TCC system regulates the temperature of the turbine casing during various flight phases — from engine start-up to shutdown. By managing the flow of cooling air, it ensures the turbine case expands or contracts in a controlled manner, preventing blade rubbing and maintaining optimal clearances. ⚙️ How it works: Air is bled from different compressor stages (IP3, HP3, IP4) depending on engine requirements. This bleed air passes through a TCC manifold and control valves that regulate airflow. The air is then directed around the turbine casing via LP (Low Pressure) and HP (High Pressure) TCC manifolds, providing precise cooling where needed.
