FUELLING THE FUTURE OF SPORT, RACING AND COMMUNITIES IN NEW ZEALAND

About us

TAB NZ is deeply ingrained in New Zealand's culture. Formerly the New Zealand Racing Board, TAB NZ is New Zealand’s sole national betting agency. With our roots in racing, we’ve come a long way from those days and now offer a wide variety of sports betting options (darts anyone?) We’re incredibly proud of our history, but also the way we contribute to fuelling the future of racing and sport in New Zealand. Every bet placed with TAB NZ returns money to the National Sporting Organisations (NSOs) to ensure that New Zealand stands firmly on the world’s podium as some of the best sports teams and players, ever.

Sunday, 19 October, marked a special day for the TAB brand, and the wider New Zealand racing industry. On 19 October 1950, the Totalisator Agency Board (TAB) was established, dawning a new era in racing and betting in New Zealand. Retail stores soon followed in the next few months and, as the years rolled on, 'new' products like quinellas, trifectas and trebles came on board - only one a day for a while, mind you! Now, 75 years on from the TAB coming into existence, we're marking the momentous occasion over the next couple of weeks. Look out for the hype reel across our social channels, and TAB customers can enter a quiz to win Bonus Cash, or their share of raceday or sporting experiences across New Zealand. Big opportunity to make a big impact – we’re on the lookout for a CFO to help lead TAB NZ into the future. If you’re a proven financial leader ready to make an impact at a national level, we’d love to hear from you. https://lnkd.in/gcQ59bhv

TAB NZ is looking for a new CFO. This is a big role with real influence, leading financial strategy for an organisation that sits at the heart of New Zealand’s racing and sporting landscape. Based in Wellington and reporting to the CEO, you’ll be part of a tight-knit executive team helping shape the future of a commercially focused, publicly significant organisation. You’ll bring a sharp financial mind, deep experience in complex environments, and the confidence to operate at board level. But equally important is your ability to think beyond the numbers, lead a high-performing team and see around corners when it comes to strategy, compliance and commercial opportunity. If you’re ready for a role with real impact and the scope to shape something that matters - we’d love to hear from you. New Zealand 🤝 Entain and TAB NZ. We’re building on our presence in New Zealand with online-provided betting exclusivity in the region, adding to the existing land-based racing and sports betting offering through our TAB NZ partnership. Announced last week as part of the Government’s amendments to the Racing Industry Act 2020, this legislative amendment further deepens our commitment to the industry, as well as to the future of racing and sport in New Zealand. Hear from Simon Zinger, our Group General Counsel 👇 More details: bit.ly/4625djH

Unanimous. There are a number of options available when it comes to gambling regulation, but lawmakers from the six parties in parliament voting unanimously in favour of the Racing Industry Amendment Act signals that from next week we’ll have it pretty right in New Zealand. * World-class customer experience - delivered by our strategic partners Entain Australia & New Zealand * A safe environment - tech investment in harm minimisation and the benefits that flow from reducing the number of operators (in this case to one) * Maximised returns to the community - which necessarily involves making sure policy settings channel punters into the regulated market and that commercial models are fit for purpose Congratulations to everyone who has played their part in today’s law change (there have been a heap of you). Kiwis are better for it. https://lnkd.in/gdhHmd9V NZ bans offshore betting, TAB gains monopoly with new law

Our establishment of this group demonstrates the criticality of a healthy racing industry to the performance of TAB NZ. We've built some great momentum through our landmark strategic partnership with Entain Australia & New Zealand and recently we've had unanimous parliamentary support for the Racing Industry Amendment Bill. However, there are still some key issues to resolve to ensure we unearth the racing industry's latent growth. So how did our first meeting with the newly-formed Advisory Committee go? Yes, there was lots of passion. However, it was the commercial skills and focus on solutions which demonstrated how valuable this group will be. These are serious people with a serious goal. They aren't donating their time to have their name in the paper... but it's still an article worth reading. https://lnkd.in/gi9UVCrT

NZTR, in collaboration with Entain Australia & New Zealand and TAB NZ, has confirmed the 2025–26 season calendar, featuring a total of 308 racemeetings - an increase on the previous year and a reflection of our strategic focus on growing engagement, maximising wagering opportunities, and supporting long-term industry sustainability. Key changes include a trial expansion of Sunday racedays, a significant uplift in Friday meetings, and improved scheduling alignment with the Australian market. These adjustments are designed to deliver stronger wagering outcomes and greater returns to the code.

An absolute privilege to have the 2000 Melbourne Cup, won by Brew, in the office today! Trained by the late Mike Moroney and ridden to victory by Kerrin McEvoy, Brew's win is a special moment in racing history. At Bobby, we back legends - and there's nothing better than seeing a Kiwi horse take out a big Aussie race! 🏇 🏆 TAB NZ

The TAB Karaka Millions is now the annual showpiece event for the New Zealand racing industry - the marquee status punctuated by having both the PM and DPM on course Auckland Thoroughbred Racing Ellerslie Events | Ellerslie Racecourse. So why the picture of baked goods? Well, I’m lucky enough to have a small ownership share in Te Akau Racing - New Zealand | Australia’s filly Damask Rose who cruised to victory in the 3yo Karaka Millions and so I thought I better shout morning tea for the team! My local baker was pretty pumped about the unexpected Monday morning revenue boost, and his delight got me thinking about how TAB NZ’s direct funding to the industry stimulates the wider community in all sorts of different ways (after all, horse racing contributes $1.7billion to the NZ economy annually). It’s a big week for us and the industry, not just because of the 99th New Zealand Bloodstock national yearling sale happening at Karaka. Parliament returns and the Governance and Administration Committee will start considering the Racing Industry Amendment Bill which gives TAB NZ the exclusive rights to racing and sports betting in New Zealand. The Bill enables us - through our strategic partnership with Entain Australia & New Zealand - to maximise funding outcomes for the economically significant New Zealand racing industry and iconic sporting sector, all while making sure Kiwis are betting in the safest environment.

Big news and a huge outcome for racing and sport in New Zealand. Delighted that our financial support of the racing industry and sporting sector has been enabled through the Government's decision to reinstate TAB NZ with the sole racing and sports betting rights in New Zealand. https://lnkd.in/gerrSvMt
