Kellie Sloane in New South Wales. Jess Wilson in Victoria. Sussan Ley in federal politics. Women have ended up as the victors in this year’s “killing season” for the Liberal Party. But if the party has truly changed, the Liberals must also elect women leaders during times of stability, instead of just relying on them to clean up the mess left by their male predecessors, writes Dr Blair Williams. 📌 https://lnkd.in/gesxwR_A #auspol

About us
Women's Agenda is a publication for career-minded, time-poor women who want to stay ahead of the conversation. Our team of coffee-loving, media junkies enjoy nothing more than waking up early to make your business day better. We determine the day's agenda before most people hit snooze on their smart phones, so you can get informed and productive. Our morning update features an edit of the day's key issues - a quick conversational scan to help you prepare for any elevator ride - as well as our latest views on making careers, work and business better for women. We're an independent publication first launched by Private Media in 2012 and acquired by its founding editor Angela Priestley in 2016. Our business survives off advertising, sponsors, and by helping organisations with content strategy and marketing, especially those looking to engage women. After publishing more than 1000 newsletters, 7000 stories and managing dozens of events, we intimately understand the needs and desires of career-minded, time-poor women. Indeed, we are such women ourselves! We're busy and sleep deprived but seriously passionate about what we do. We also all work flexibly, managing priorities ranging from kids, to travel, to writing books and building businesses. Get in touch with us at admin@womensagenda.com.au

A new women’s safe haven, Arada House, has been launched in Sydney by the Arada Foundation in partnership with Women's Community Shelters, who will operate the facility. “When the place that should offer safety becomes a source of harm, the foundations of life are shaken. Arada House will be a space to heal, to feel safe again, and to find the strength to rebuild,” said Rosa Piro, Director of the Arada Foundation. “By providing safe havens and empowering futures, we can help break the cycle of domestic violence.” 📌 https://lnkd.in/gUB2adb3

This week, Sussan Ley managed to do what many thought impossible: revive Tony Abbott’s legendary “women of Australia will do the ironing” moment except this time, it was the grocery shopping. While Australia in 2025 is not quite the world of Abbott’s ironing board, political leaders still seem remarkably comfortable reinforcing the idea that women naturally shoulder the domestic load, writes Rita Nasr. https://lnkd.in/guzYnCV9 #SussanLey

Anglicare Australia’s Jobs Availability Snapshot, out this week, reveals a reality that cuts sharply against the rhetoric. Older women are now the fastest-growing group on JobSeeker, ageing into a job market that has almost no place for them. Executive Director Kasy Chambers shares more on the women who have been quietly locked out of work. 📌 https://lnkd.in/gU8H_25r

Kellie Sloane MP has been elected as the next leader of the NSW Liberal Party. For the first time in history, the NSW Liberals will have an all-female leadership team, with The Hon Natalie Ward MLC retaining her role as Deputy Leader. “What a day. A few moments ago, a united Liberal party room endorsed me as the new leader and the responsibility is one I don’t take lightly. I’m ready to work for New South Wales, and I thank my colleagues for the faith and the trust that they’ve placed in me today,” Sloane said. https://lnkd.in/ga6muEbc #NSWLiberalParty #KellieSloane

Australia's loss of the COP31 bid is unsurprising, but also completely telling of how the current Labor Government is positioning itself in regard to climate and environmental action, writes Tegan Clark. Australia has a lot to prove, we are running out of time but young people are here to keep our Government accountable to their actions. 📌 https://lnkd.in/g3UwAvpj #COP31 #ClimateAction #AlbaneseGovernment

Sweeping changes to a social security bill have been met with fierce opposition from peak #disability organisations like Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (AFDO), who say it will create further inequity and unintended consequences within the justice system.
