PCHF Ambassador Ash took an extraordinary step last month – lighting up the room at this year’s Globe BD - Accounting Taxation & Business Advisory lunch to bravely share her story of recovery in front of 360 guests. We couldn’t be prouder.👏💜 After surviving a life-threatening Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) - a tangle of blood vessels in the brain that ruptured - Ash spent months with the PCH Kids Rehab team relearning how to eat, talk, walk, and even sit. Her courage on stage was an incredible personal milestone and a powerful reminder of why world-class rehabilitation services are so vital for WA kids and families. A huge thanks to Globe BD for an incredible 22 years of support for PCHF. This year, 360 guests came together to raise more than $142,000 for the Kids Rehab Centre of Excellence, ensuring young patients like Ash receive the life-changing care and rehabilitation they need. Our thanks to everyone who attended and donated, including former Australian cricket coach Justin Langer AM GAICD who spoke on the day, with a special mention to Ian Conroy, Chris Quelch CPA and Paul Gough for their leadership and generosity.

From stage 4 cancer, to ringing the end-of-treatment bell 🎉 After eight tough months of cancer treatment, brave two-year-old Sonny rang the bell outside the oncology ward at PCH - surrounded by some of the incredible nurses who cared for him every step of the way. Sonny was diagnosed with a tumour on his kidney, which had already spread. He faced chemotherapy, an eight-hour surgery to remove half his kidney, and eight days of radiation targeting his abdomen. This Christmas, Sonny’s family will celebrate the greatest gift – their happy, healthy little boy back home with his family. But not every child gets this opportunity. Support PCHF’s Christmas Appeal to help fund safer, less toxic treatments for kids like Sonny – because every child should have the chance to ring the bell. 💛🎄 To donate, please visit: www.pchf.org.au/donate 💜 Child and Adolescent Health Service | Daniel Curulli | Pete Curulli | #PCHFRingTheBell #RingTheBell #ChristmasAppeal #ChildhoodCancer #KidsWithCancer #CancerAwareness #RenalCancer #KidneyCancer #OncologyTreatment

Even the most experienced clinicians can find neonatal intubation challenging – but new PCHF-funded research and equipment are helping to change that. 💙👶 Neonatal intubation is a delicate procedure often performed in high-pressure emergency situations to help newborns breathe by inserting a tiny tube into their windpipe. Led by Dr Sachin Agrawal, Child and Adolescent Health Service researchers have developed a new training program to boost clinician competence, confidence, and calm during this life-saving procedure. Published in the Pediatric Research journal earlier this year, the program improves “first-pass” success (getting the tube in right the first time), leading to better outcomes for our tiniest patients, including premature babies, through: 📹 Video-laryngoscopy – guiding intubation with a small camera 🔁 Rapid cycle deliberate practice – mastering skills through short, focused practice with immediate feedback 👩⚕️Just-in-time training – practicing on manikins right before real procedures 🧠 Stress management strategies – helping clinicians stay calm under pressure Learn more or donate via https://lnkd.in/gQzvXyZa #NeonatalCare #Paediatrics #MedicalInnovation #NeonatalIntubation #Intubation | Dr Chandra Rath | Prof. Shripada Rao | Prof.Sanjay Patole | Dr Abhijeet Rakshasbhuvankar

Help kids like Luca spend less time in hospital this Christmas – and more time being kids! 💜 (Swipe to see just how cheeky she is!) At just three years old, Luca was diagnosed with an extremely rare brain tumour, and doctors feared she wouldn’t make it to Christmas. Five years on from 15 gruelling months of high-risk surgery, chemo, stem cell transplants and radiation, Luca is cancer-free and thriving - loving school, netball, and time with her friends. Every three months, 8-year-old Luca still visits PCH for scans, blood tests, and rehabilitation to monitor her progress and growth. This Christmas, your donation will help fund better, safer cancer treatments – so more kids like Luca can ring the bell of hope. 👉 Donate now at pchf.org.au/donate #PCHFRingTheBell #RingTheBell #ChristmasAppeal #ChildhoodCancer #KidsWithCancer #CancerAwareness #ATRT #BrainTumour #OncologyTreatment

🔔 On his 2nd birthday, Sonny was laughing and running around with his twin sister, Elira. Just two days later, their world changed – Sonny was diagnosed with stage 4 renal cancer that had spread to his lungs. His journey also impacted his older sisters, Siana and Monica, who supported their little brother while navigating their own feelings. Their experience is an important part of Sonny’s story.💛 Just a few months ago, they were thrilled to see Sonny ring the bell 🔔, closing out 2025 on a brighter, more hopeful note. This Christmas, your gift will help fund better, safer cancer treatments – so more kids like Sonny can ring the bell of hope. Living with cerebral palsy means Bodhi (15) faces ongoing respiratory challenges that make it hard to clear mucus from his lungs – increasing the risk of serious infections and hospital stays. But this year has been different. Thanks to an innovative Airvo 2 device funded by PCHF, thanks to support from ToyBox Australia, Bodhi’s family can now better manage his breathing at home in Australind. The device delivers warm, humidified air that helps keep his airways open and clear, improving his sleep, comfort and quality of life. Bodhi is one of 30 WA kids who have benefited from this life-changing technology, ensuring more families are equipped to care for their children confidently at home. 💜 Learn more and help fund more of the latest equipment for WA kids: https://lnkd.in/gcN4c6mY #CerebralPalsy #RespiratorySupport #SleepApnoea #CPAP #LongCOVID #ChildrensHealth #MedicalInnovation Child and Adolescent Health Service

Earlier this month, our construction crew gathered on site at Sandcastles for a moving and heartfelt smoking ceremony led by Barry McGuire and Carol Innes. Against a breathtaking natural backdrop featuring crows circling overhead and a whale breaching nearby, the traditional smoking ceremony both blessed the building and also marked a major milestone: the ‘topping out’ completion of all structural steel on the first floor! Next up? The roof goes on. 🏗️ A huge thank you to our construction partner, West to West Group, for capturing this special moment with stunning drone footage. And in other exciting news, the foundation of the hydrotherapy pool is now complete. Filled with natural light and overlooking the outdoors, this warm, sensory-rich space will feature gentle air jets, calming music, and adjustable temperature and lighting, specially designed to support kids with mobility challenges. This latest milestone takes us one step closer to the opening of WA’s first children’s hospice. To learn more or donate, visit: https://lnkd.in/gPkZ3b3 Sandcastles is funded by PCHF thanks to generous contributions from the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation, Cancer Council Western Australia via a generous bequest from the late John Street, Minderoo Foundation, Lotterywest, Australian Government and the WA community. Sandcastles is made possible thanks to the generous support of the development team, including Hassell, Hesperia and Encon, as well as West to West Group. The ongoing clinical operational costs of Sandcastles will be provided by Government of Western Australia through facility partner, the Child and Adolescent Health Service. #Sandcastles #BoodjaMia #WAChildrensHospice
