About us
As WA's leading cancer charity, every day we're working to support families, prevent cancer, and save lives. From providing practical and financial support to West Australians affected by cancer, to speaking out on behalf of the community, stopping cancer before it starts, and finding new ways to better detect, treat and defeat cancer, every minute, every hour, every day we're working towards our vision of a cancer-free future. However, as a not-for-profit organisation we’re reliant on community donations to continue this work. Every time you make a donation, take part in a Relay For Life event, host a Biggest Morning Tea, Girls' Night In or your own fundraiser, buy a Daffodil Day pin or become a regular giver, you're helping us work towards towards our goal of creating a world where cancer’s no longer feared. We can’t do what we do without you, thank you.

Today is International Men's Day, an annual awareness day highlighting the social issues affecting men and boys. The 2025 theme "Supporting Men and Boys" calls on communities to recognise those creating safer, healthier environments. I sat down with Matt a facilitator from Kai Fella Foundation, a WA charity dedicated to preventing youth suicide and building resilience in young people. its in-school workshops help to foster peer connection and create spaces for young people to share honestly, support one another and grow into compassionate and self-aware people. 🎧 https://lnkd.in/eim3jpCT 🎧 https://lnkd.in/eTrxK-S2

It’s the start of National Skin Cancer Action Week! Today, Cancer Council is celebrating 40 years of #NationalSkinCancerActionWeek by reminding Australians to protect themselves from our national cancer. Even better, Sid the Seagull’s back with his iconic Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide this summer, an important sun safety message for all generations. Don’t forget - it’s still the same sun 40 years later! ☀️ #sunsafety #skincancer

Cancer care should never depend on your postcode.💛 Many WA families face both treatment-related and out-of-pocket costs after a cancer diagnosis. Some spend over 10% of their household income on travel to treatment, parking, supportive care, and medication. Currently, patients in Midland, Kalamunda, Wooroloo, and surrounding areas must travel long distances or pay significant out-of-pocket costs, while nearby facilities could provide radiation cancer treatment if the Government provided equitable funding. We need equitable access to free radiation therapy close to home. Sign the petition to the WA Legislative Council and help ensure no cancer patient is disadvantaged by where they live. Today, the Future Health Research and Innovation Fund is hosting its November Open Day, which showcases health and medical research, promotes collaboration, and announces new funding programs and recipients. Cancer Council WA is grateful to be a recipient of $5.52M in matched funding through the State Government’s 2023 and 2024 Co-Funding Partnerships Program. This has allowed us to further invest in priority cancer research areas, increase the number of projects funded annually, and create stability and opportunity for cancer researchers in WA. We are very excited to see the outcomes of the research this generates! WA Medical Research and Innovation
