  • On Monday night, Harvey Norman had the privilege of attending the 40th Sport Australia Hall of Fame Gala Dinner at the Crown in Melbourne. As a Gold Partner, it was incredibly rewarding to see our contribution directly supporting the emerging talent pool in Australian sport and meet with our scholarship holders. The evening wasn’t just about the trophies; it was about hearing the stories behind the legends. We heard about the mindset, the resilience, and the humour that often goes unseen but is crucial to their success.   A few moments from the night really stood out to us: - Oscar Piastri receiving The Don Award for his incredible Formula 1 season. His composure and skill on the world stage are a source of massive national pride. - Layne Beachley AO earning The Dawn Award for her profound courage and impact on women’s surfing, which has changed the sport forever. Cricketing great Belinda Clark and basketball legend Andrew Gaze being elevated to Legend status. - Awarding Jemma Holt the 2025 Harvey Norman Standout Scholarship Award. Seeing the next generation step up is exactly why we love being involved and we couldn’t be any prouder of her commitment and attitude towards this year’s scholarship program.   To the team at Sport Australia Hall of Fame thank you. It was a brilliant night celebrating 40 years of history and the incredible people behind it. We are proud to be part of this journey with you championing the development of Australian athletes at all levels, providing mentoring opportunities to help them achieve their full potential both on and off the field.

  • Harvey Norman supporting the Next Generation of Sporting Champions.   This month, Harvey Norman and Sky News visited Mount Gambier, South Australia, for the latest episode of ‘Our Town’. As the proud Gold Sponsor of the Sports Australia Hall of Fame (SAHOF), now celebrating its 40th anniversary, Harvey Norman is committed to supporting Australian athletes on and off the field. Through the SAHOF Scholarship & Mentoring Program, together we empower emerging athletes to reach their full potential-not just in sport, but in life. Now in its 18th year, the program has seen 236 athletes across 56 sports receive scholarships and 70 SAHOF Members serve as one-on-one mentors, with many aspiring athletes gone on to represent Australia successfully at Olympic/Paralympic and World Championship level. With support from the Australian Sports Commission, Australian Institute of Sport and Harvey Norman, the program awards $150,000 annually to 32 rising stars through a prestigious three-tiered structure, with all scholars benefiting from 12–14 months of support, including access to legendary Australian athletes for guidance on everything from media training, social media workshops and injury recovery to balancing life and sport. SAHOF Chair John Bertrand AO shared the program’s vision; to preserve the legacy of Australian sport while inspiring the next generation of athletes to reach their full potential both in their sporting careers and in life and facing their fears on the world stage. He spoke about how Mentors don’t coach technique in their sport (that’s the coaches’ job), they offer life advice, career insights, and personal support that helps athletes grow as individuals. We were honoured to hear from Tayte Ryan, a South Australian standout young track cyclist and Tier 1 Scholarship recipient for 2025. Mentored by Winter Olympic gold medallist Steven Bradbury OAM, Tayte has already achieved remarkable success, including a world title and recognition as SASI’s Junior Male Athlete of the Year and Commonwealth Games Australia’s Emerging Athlete of the Year. Tayte credits the program-and Steven’s mentorship- as life-changing. Former SAHOF mentor and Paralympic legend Louise Sauvage OAM summed it up beautifully: “You get really involved. You see your mentees succeed, offer your advice, and guide them not just as athletes but as people. It’s incredibly fulfilling.” To learn more about the Scholarship and Mentoring program visit sahof.org.au

The 2025 NRLW Season Kicks Off – Bigger, Bolder, and More Inspiring Than Ever. This week marks the official start of the 2025 NRLW season, and it’s shaping up to be the most exciting yet. With 12 powerhouse teams now in the competition, Women’s Rugby League continues to grow at an incredible pace - showcasing elite athleticism, fierce competition, and inspiring the next generation of players across Australia and New Zealand. To celebrate this milestone, Harvey Norman’s Our Town and Sky News joined host Paul Murray in footy-obsessed Newcastle for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the heart of the game. From training with the NRLW Tigers to interviews with legends like Brett Kimmorley, Kezie Apps, and rising star Losana Lutu. Paul also sat down with Newcastle Knights Captain Yasmin Clydesdale and Olivia Higgins - two players who embody the spirit of their community. They shared their thoughts on the growth of the game, the pride of representing Newcastle, and the excitement of kicking off the season in front of a home crowd. “It’s unreal playing footy in Newcastle,” said Yasmin. “Whether you’re walking into McDonald Jones Stadium or grabbing a coffee, the support is everywhere.” Olivia, a three-time premiership winner, is focused on Round One but has her eyes on a fourth title: “I play to win-and I definitely want another premiership.” This year also marks the return of the Women’s Warriors to the NRLW, with Harvey Norman proudly signing a three-year sponsorship with the One New Zealand Warriors. This partnership strengthens our commitment to growing the game across the Tasman and supporting pathways for young women in rugby league. Additionally, as part of our ‘Our Town’ initiative, we celebrated local heroes in Newcastle making a difference every day. Congratulations to Mum’s Cottage, Holmesville, Merewether Surfboard Club, Merewether and Soul Hub, Newcastle each receiving $2,000 in Harvey Norman vouchers for their incredible community work.
