Great to catch up with our clients and collaborators at All Energy 2025, including a panel presentation from Josiah Fajardo within the 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 session. 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 Ekistica's 2025 company retreat took place in and around Clare Valley in South Australia, co-located with some of our key projects such as Waterloo Wind Farm. Ekistica developed and acted as owner's engineer for Stage 2 of the 131MW site's expansion (the first wind farm development in Australia to take a merchant approach selling directly to the NEM) for Palisade Investment Partners.   The week was a great opportunity to convene, reconnect, and build on our successes to prep for the year ahead. We also took the opportunity to deepen in focus on systems thinking - how project leadership centres on the nexus of Purpose, Relationship, and Ownership. At Ekistica we seek to provide innovative solutions to the complex challenges of regional and remote infrastructure development, whilst positively impacting our stakeholders and the world around us. #TranslateCreateDeliver

#NationalWaterWeek saw Ekistica engage on multiple fronts with 2025's theme of #BringWaterIntoFocus, with a week of collaborative events, conferences and conversations that seek to support regional and remote water resilience. Highlights included:   ▪️ Ekistica's Catherine Vero presented at Australian Water Association's #WaterInTheBush conference, where the theme was '𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀: 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺, 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵' - seeing collaborative research, climate-resilient development and Indigenous knowledges & leadership in water planning. ▪️ Catherine presented firstly on Ekistica's Water for Homelands project, launching the '𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴' - which supports the Northern Territory Government to support service providers in the delivery of water for remote Aboriginal Homelands across the NT. ▪️ Her second address presented our work with Power and Water Corporation on addressing elevated fluoride concentrations in Nyirripi's water supply, the challenges and technological opportunities for remedy. ▪️ We attended the inception meeting of the Remote Water Futures Consortium, alongside CSIRO, Monash University, Curtin University, the Goyder Institute for Water Research, Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA), and WaterAid Australia. ▪️ Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA) hosted the 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 – 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 and Ekistica’s vanessa ratard was invited to join Taylor Hayward MCom MAICD, Adam Lovell, Erin Cini, Djuna Pollard, Simon Wurst, Elizabeth Gadd, Ella Leonhardt, Rachael Miller, Rod Holme, Dr Andrew Bath, Paul Bendotti, Gavin Ralston, Dan Brown, Bee Cruse (Whinfield), and Brendan Guiney discussing remote workforce development in the water utility sector, with Ekistica's Sam Mitchell giving a guided tour around the Desert Knowledge Australia Solar Centre. ▪️ And finally, Ekistica is a sponsor of the upcoming Australian Water Association Galah Event,. This event celebrates and recognises the state's outstanding achievers in the water industry, for which the finalists were announced this week, and demonstrates our commitment to advancing industry excellence across Australia's regions, supported by our expanding Hobart office presence.   Ekistica is proud to support collaborative efforts to build resilience in water futures across remote and regional Australia, and we are enthusiastic to see industry, government and communities alike engage with this critical issue.

Our CEO and MD Lyndon Frearson has published an article on The Energy exploring how #renewables are fundamentally different to #traditional #generation. His thesis is that we have spent so much time trying to argue against the denialists regarding renewables, we have fallen into a trap of engaging substitutionally, when in fact, we should appreciate that in embracing the fundamental differences in technologies that opportunity exists. https://lnkd.in/gG-uZ8vF

Annette D'Emden MBA (Principal Advisor – Planning at Ekistica) recently joined industry leaders at the Australian Water Association’s “Where the Waters Reflect” Industry Breakfast in Nipaluna/Hobart. Annette facilitated a thought-provoking panel discussion exploring “What’s below the surface – insights from projects big and small.” The conversation highlighted how our connection to water deepens the dialogue around it and how collaboration and listening are essential to delivering outcomes that support all water users. The event brought together experts from across Tasmania’s water sector, including Donna Brown (Hydro Tasmania), Samuel Paske (TasWater), Jacob Gerke (Tasmanian Irrigation), and the Anne Beach (Point Development Corporation). The morning offered rich insights into the challenges and successes of water infrastructure projects, followed by site tours showcasing transformative upgrades at Self’s Point and Macquarie Point. A big thank you to AWA for creating space for these important conversations. Having worked with Aboriginal Homelands for almost two decades, and leveraging our parent company’s (The Centre for Appropriate Technology Limited (CfAT)) more than 40 years of heritage supporting indigenous people to live and thrive on country, we know that coordinated and outcomes-focused investment is key to improving the reliability of energy services in Homelands – and are thrilled with Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA)'s support for this important project. 🎉 🎉   With this support, we are looking to tackle the many long-standing inefficiencies in Homeland service delivery through the development of a least cost, highest value governance and delivery model in collaboration with Commonwealth and Territory Governments, and NT Land Councils. The project will draw on learnings from the Bushlight program, widely recognised as a best practice example for the coordinated programmatic delivery of Homeland energy services, and provide a replicable model for investment in Homelands.   The project is already underway and we are keen to keep working and partnering with our stakeholders to deliver this exciting project. #Homelands #Bushlight #TranslateCreateDeliver

It was great to be a part of the recent Engineers Australia event in Alice Springs that hosted Chief Executive Officer Romilly Madew AO FTSE HonFIEAust EngExec and Chief Engineer Katherine Richards AM CSC and showcased some of the innovative and impactful projects happening in Central Australia.     As well as hearing from Purple House (Western Desert Nganampa Walytja Palyantjaku Tjutaku Aboriginal Corporation) and Desert Knowledge Australia, Ekistica presented on some of the work we are doing and design of appropriate Keeping Places for communities to store their artefacts.      It is great to have these opportunities to bring the STEM community together in Central Australia.
