🌟 Leading the charge on carbon accountability! Meet Lucy Whalen, Sustainability Construction Lead for Webuild, as part of the Spark North East Link Tunnels D&C team. From conservation work in Melbourne to major rail projects in London, Lucy has built a career focused on reducing embodied carbon in the design and delivery of complex infrastructure. In her current role with Webuild on the North East Link project, Lucy has played a key role in achieving Australia’s first PAS 2080 certification. Her work has helped embed carbon management across teams, champion innovative low-carbon materials and construction methods, and inspire a culture where everyone owns the sustainability agenda. Now, as part of Webuild’s international Decarbonisation Working Group, Lucy is helping shape how carbon is managed across our global operations. Today we celebrate the positive contributions men make in our workplaces, families, and communities, and highlight the importance of supporting men’s health and wellbeing. It’s also a time to raise awareness of the challenges many men face, including mental health, suicide prevention, essential health checks, and workplace safety. Positive male role models play a vital role in driving these conversations and helping create safer, healthier environments for everyone. This year for International Men’s Day, we: 🧠 Hosted an Awareness Session with Assure, our Employee Assistance Program provider about the importance of practical resources to support men’s health. 👷 Ran a MATES in Construction General Awareness Training Session, strengthening mental health awareness across our workplaces and sites. 🏀 Joined the QV1 Movember Basketball competition to raise awareness and funds to support men’s health. With our parent company, Webuild, we believe in fostering open dialogue, checking in on one another, and building inclusive support systems that empower men to seek help when they need it.
