This week, we welcomed 21 of our metastatic clients to our much-loved Metastatic Wellness Day 💜 The atmosphere was filled with warmth, calm and connection as attendees enjoyed a day of gentle self-care including yoga, mindfulness meditation, sound healing and relaxing chair massage. A delicious shared lunch provided the perfect space to connect, reflect and share stories. At #BCCWA, we’re committed to supporting the unique needs of those living with metastatic breast cancer. Days like this are a powerful reminder of the strength found in community, compassion and shared experiences. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day so meaningful. #Metastatic #BreastCancer #Wellness #WA

Last week, #BCCWA attended Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA) and INTERNATIONAL PSYCHO-ONCOLOGY SOCIETY (IPOS) Conference in Adelaide. Our counsellors, Katie and Aileen (pictured), valued the opportunity to connect with leaders who are driving innovation in oncology care. At BCCWA, we stay at the forefront of emerging evidence-based oncology practice to remain a leader in breast cancer care across WA. #BreastCancer #Oncology #MentalHealth #Counselling

This month #BCCWA hit the road! Counsellors Holly and Aileen visited #Geraldton and #Albany to facilitate face-to-face support groups and provide 1:1 counselling for clients in the Midwest and Great Southern regions. They led young women’s, early breast cancer and metastatic support groups. At BCCWA, we’re committed to ensuring that everyone affected by breast cancer in WA has access to free specialist support services, no matter where they live. We’re dedicated to strengthening connections with regional communities, expanding our reach and bridging the gap to provide essential support across WA. A big thank you to Cancer Council Western Australia for generously sharing their space to host these groups. #WA #BreastCancer #Regional #Statewide #Counselling #Support

"I’d cry a lot on my own because I didn’t want the kids to see me like that. I just kept telling them, ‘I’m going to beat it, you don’t need to worry,’ even when I wasn’t sure myself." Around this time last year, our Christmas Appeal Ambassador, Alicia, was referred to #BCCWA. That’s when she was connected with her specialist breast care nurse, Karen — who checked in and translated complex medical jargon into words Alicia could understand. Karen also sent children's books and teddy bears to help Alicia explain cancer to her young kids. "That sort of care just blew me away." Alicia shares. This Christmas, your generousity can help provide that same care to another WA family facing breast cancer. Donate today https://lnkd.in/gaK4yPFm #ChristmasAppeal #BreastCancer #WA

Caroline is one of our wonderful 2025 Purple Bra Day Ambassadors 💜 During a recent trip to Perth for oncology appointments, we had the pleasure of visiting Caroline at Cancer Council Western Australia's Crawford Lodge to thank her for sharing her story as part of our most successful Purple Bra Day campaign ever. Both Caroline and her husband Daryn receive specialist #BCCWA support in WA's South West. For the past seven years, they have navigated Caroline's now metastatic breast cancer diagnosis with our ongoing care. Their strength and resilience continues to inspire our community. #PurpleBraDay #SouthWest #Metastatic #BreastCancer

When Alicia first found a lump at just 33, she didn’t panic. “I’d had one before and it disappeared,” she said. This time, something felt different. “During my ultrasound, the technician suddenly went quiet and said, ‘I’m just going to get the doctor to come and have a look.’” Shortly after, Alicia’s GP shared the words no one ever wants to hear: “It’s cancer.” With three young children, Alicia found strength she didn’t know she had. Over the past 12 months, she has navigated four surgeries, eight rounds of chemotherapy and five weeks of radiation with the support of #BCCWA. It was around this time last year that Alicia was referred to us. Today, she’s sharing her experience to inspire hope this Christmas 🎄 Donate to help a family like Alicia's https://lnkd.in/gaK4yPFm #BreastCancer #WA #ChristmasAppeal

Did you know that #BCCWA supports twice as many young women diagnosed with breast cancer as the statewide average? This reflects the trust young women under 40 place in us and the vital support they rely on during a challenging time. Many young women experience greater emotional distress than older women, including feeling different and isolated, guilt about the impact on partners, concerns for children and a sense of being a different person with new priorities. Our services are tailored to their unique needs, helping them navigate premature menopause, fertility, young families, relationships, body image and work. At BCCWA, we’re here to ensure no young woman faces breast cancer alone. #BreastCancer #WA #Specialist #Support
