After clicking the Join button, an email will be sent from them to verify the email
address you provided.
III. The Dashboard

  Complete your profile first!
This tells members who you are,
what you do, where you reside,
and what your interests are –
giving them an indication of why you joined.
IV. Profile Tips

 Always upload a photo so members can see who you are.
 Add your website, Twitter, and blog URLs. *
 In the Interests section, list descriptive keywords so your name will be
in the results when members search by keyword.
 Build out your work experience for each position held. Many companies
now allow individuals to apply with their LinkedIn profile. This can be
  another online resume.
 Add industry awards & honors.
