LIR Search Best Practices
• Search is an iterative process
• Approach #1 ("Targeted"):
○ Search for almost everything required, and
relax your search in steps when you are not
finding enough
▪ Start again and relax the search in other ways
▪ Start from another "tight" search and repeat
○ Be practical – incorporate similar titles and skills
to find more
• Advantage: quickly find matching results
○ However, competition will find them too
2
LIR Search Best Practices
• Approach #2 – "Open-Ended":
○ Start with some "must-have" filters and adjust
the search based on the results, removing "false
positives"
○ Go back and restrict your search in other ways
○ Start with an alternative open-ended search
and do the same
• Advantages
○ Discovers members who have not used the
"right" terms on profiles but are a match
○ More inclusive (gets more results) than
"Targeted"
3
Questions for You
• How can you tighten the search in
Recruiter? What are the options?
• How can you expand the search?
• How can you alter the search?
• Brainstorm (next slide)
4
