Lecture1 - Machine Learning

This document provides an introduction and agenda for Lecture 1 of an Introduction to Machine Learning course. The lecture will cover goals for the course from both the instructor and student perspectives. It will also discuss the major project which will account for 70% of the grade, requiring students to conduct and present original machine learning research. The next class will cover what machine learning is, why it is important, and different machine learning paradigms.
