This document outlines a research project led by Axel Bruns at the Queensland University of Technology focused on analyzing polarization in online public debates, particularly in news coverage. It details various aspects of polarization, including definitions, forms, symptoms of destructive polarization, and the challenges of analyzing news data, especially with respect to AI training.
