Representing the ECC Wexford Chronic Disease Hub, Liz showcased how Attend Anywhere, a virtual platform for assessments and first appointments, has transformed cardiology services by tackling long waitlists while improving access and outcomes. Person-centred care is widely heralded as the moral and professional foundation of modern healthcare. Yet in our latest publication, we raise a difficult and necessary question: Has person-centred care become an illusion? Despite its noble aspirations, we argue that the concept is often constrained by institutional agendas, bureaucratic systems and entrenched power structures. Rather than empowering patients, person-centred care can inadvertently serve professional and organisational interests, operating more as rhetoric than reality. If person-centred care is ‘dead’, it may be because it was never fully 'alive' to begin with? What emerges now is an opportunity to reimagine what authentic care could be, beyond slogans, beyond compliance, and towards genuinely transformative practice. 📰 New CAPC blog: 'The 2025 Palliative Pulse Results: How Palliative Care Teams Are Doing' by Rachael Heitner, MPH 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eV_waVxb Each year, CAPC checks in with palliative care professionals across the country to understand their needs, challenges, and priorities. Our second annual Palliative Pulse survey brought together insights from more than 850 participants working in hospitals, health systems, hospices, home health agencies, and beyond. Here’s a snapshot of what you shared: Team well-being is a top concern for the second year in a row. Clinical skills training remains a priority for both palliative care teams and colleagues outside the specialty. Consult volumes are climbing, even while staffing remains stagnant. Program sustainability worries have eased slightly, but concerns persist. Alongside the numbers, participants also shared candid reflections, the joys that keep them motivated and the frustrations that weigh on them.
