If you lead a global SaaS company, pay attention to this number: 18–24 months. That’s the average tenure of a CRO right now. And every time it happens, your APAC business starts from zero. When a new CRO steps in, global priorities shift. Targets, definitions, and success metrics are rewritten. Budgets pause while new alignment meetings happen. For headquarters, that’s a leadership transition. For APAC, it’s a complete reboot. Because this region runs on accumulated knowledge. How each country buys, how long procurement actually takes, which partners deliver, and which don’t. Every new CRO has to rebuild that understanding from scratch. That’s six to nine months of lost momentum, minimum. I’ve seen three different CROs rotate through the same company in five years. Each arrived with a new strategy, new forecasts, and new reporting lines. By the time the team regained traction, the next reset began. The result? Reps leave. Partners hesitate to invest. Customers lose confidence in delivery continuity. The SaaS companies that grow consistently in APAC understand one thing: stability in leadership compounds faster than any short-term strategy shift. Keep your APAC leaders long enough to execute. Align expectations with real market cycles. Because here, every unnecessary reset costs you three to five years of unrealised potential. Most members of the C-suite do not fully understand the nuances of account-based approaches. Most leadership teams view it as a “targeting” strategy to build the pipeline vs. a business strategy that should change how all teams communicate and engage with future and existing high-value accounts. They do not understand that ABM or a Strategic Account Strategy is a revenue-generating initiative that aligns with the company’s broader growth objectives.
