User licenses and permissions in Recruiter

Last updated: 4 weeks ago

LinkedIn Recruiter user access to specific features is based on license and permission type assignments.

The license types in Recruiter are Hiring Project Creator and Hiring Collaborator. The permission types are divided between Search (paid) and Unlimited (free).

Important to know

User access to features within specific projects is also determined by their assigned project-level permissions.

Hiring Project Creator license

This license can be combined with paid (limited) and unlimited permissions and allows users to:

  • Create projects
  • View candidate profiles
  • Move candidates through the pipeline
  • Message applicants and media leads

Note: This license is formerly known as the Dashboard Manager seat or Recruiter seat (when paired with the Recruiter Searcher permission). It's also formerly known as the Talent Pipeline seat when paired with the Candidate Pipeline Searcher permission.

Hiring Collaborator license

This license can't be combined with paid (limited) permissions. It allows users to:

  • Be added to projects
  • Collaborate on and review candidates in the pipeline within shared projects

Note: This license is formerly known as the Hiring Manager seat. Recruiters with this license can't add or edit tags in the Recruiting Tools section of a candidate's profile. Recruiters with this license can't view or modify candidate profile contact information.

Paid (limited) permissions

The number of available paid permissions are tied to the number of Hiring Project Creator licenses on your contract.

  • Recruiter Searcher: Allows you to search the entire LinkedIn network for candidates and send them InMail messages.
  • Candidate Pipeline Searcher: Allows you to search for candidates that have been added to the pipeline of a hiring project.
  • Hiring Assistant: Allows you to use Hiring Assistant to create a project, source and message candidates, and perform various hiring tasks.
    • Note: Hiring Assistant is available as an add-on for LinkedIn Recruiter and LinkedIn Recruiter Professional Services Plus (RPS+) customers. To use Hiring Assistant, you must be assigned the Hiring Assistant Permission and set your language preference to English. We’re gradually making this experience available, and you might not have access to it at this time.

Unlimited permissions

Unlimited permissions can be combined with any license type.

  • Product Settings and Account Center Admin: Allows you to manage your contract's global settings, access the Settings log page, and manage licenses, permissions, and roles for users on your contract.
  • Public Notes Viewer: Allows you to see any notes on candidate profiles, even if they were made by others.

The following table provides details on the license and permissions types and project-level permissions, which determine actions a user can take. Access to features that depend on the project-level access or require a specific add-on role are also noted.
