About Campaigns

Last updated: 1 week ago

With campaigns, you can organize related ad sets together to manage them at scale. Campaigns are available for both Classic and Accelerate ad set types, and you can have a campaign that contains only Classic ad sets, only Accelerate ad sets, or a mix of Classic and Accelerate ad sets.

When using Classic and Accelerate ad sets in the same campaign, they must have the same objective type, bidding strategy, optimization goal, daily or lifetime budget, and schedule if Dynamic Group Budget is turned on.

Important to know

When using Accelerate ad sets, campaigns are only available for the website visits or lead generation objectives.

Placing related ad sets in the same campaign allows you to:

  • Set a shared objective that applies to all ad sets in the campaign.
  • Set a shared budget and schedule that applies to all ad sets in the campaign.
  • Manage the status of campaigns through the campaign.
  • View or export performance metrics for all ad sets in the campaign.

You can create an unlimited number of campaigns to organize your ad sets. Once a ad set has been added to a campaign, it can’t be moved. Instead of moving a ad set, you can create a copy of the ad set in a different campaign by duplicating it.

Campaign settings

Your campaign settings help you manage all ad sets in the group. Campaign settings include:

  • Shared objective - Set a campaign shared objective for all ad sets in the campaign. When you set a shared objective, you can also turn on Dynamic Group Budget which ensures budgets are used efficiently and optimally to achieve business outcomes.
  • Group budget and schedule - Set a start date, end date, or budget that applies to all ad sets in the campaign. If you turn on Dynamic Group Budget, you can only set a budget and schedule at the campaign level.

You might encounter an error when creating or editing an ad set if the ad set’s settings don’t align with the campaign’s settings.

Learn more about the differences between campaigns with and without Dynamic Group Budget in the table below.

Default campaign

Each ad account automatically starts off with at least one campaign. If you created your ad account before July 2021, your ad account has a Default Campaign. If you created your ad account after July 2021, your ad account has a New Campaign. If your ad account has a Default Campaign, it can’t be edited.

Here's a tip

If you created an ad account before campaigns launched, all ad sets that existed in your ad account were placed in the Default Campaign.
