Updates

  • Team4Tech recently facilitated three Micro-Matching projects, where we paired employee volunteers from Cadence with NGO staff for short, focused projects to co-create practical tools and deliver valuable solutions for the NGOs in 8-12 hours over 8 weeks. For these 3 micro-projects, 9 Cadence volunteers collaborated virtually in small groups to support our Kenya-based NGO partners, NairoBits Trust and EmpServe Kenya, as well as our Pakistan-based NGO partner, Chiraagh. Each project addressed a critical operational need: ⚡️ strengthening data systems to communicate NGO impact ⚡️ integrating AI skills into an ICT curriculum ⚡️ supporting a dashboard to streamline NGO operations Read more about these micro-projects and how corporate volunteers are engaging in Team4Tech’s Community of Practice on our blog: https://bit.ly/43ELp3L #skillsbasedvolunteering #NGOimpactaccelerator #techforgood #probono

  • On November 14, Team4Tech hosted our annual Lighthouses of Learning Impact Celebration. 250 partners and supporters joined us in Palo Alto, California, to honor our collective impact in advancing education for employability worldwide. At the celebration, we recognized the incredible work and partnership of Team4Tech's 2025 honorees: NGO Partner of the Year Projeto Arrastão, Volunteers of the Year, Charis Kalantzi and Alex Leigh from Cadence, Corporate Partner of the Year, Salesforce, and Donor of the Year, Ezrah Charitable Trust. We are so thankful for the opportunity to gather our growing community and share our vision for a world where all learners have access to an education that builds skills for high-quality employment. • Our Chief Partnerships Officer, Elizabeth Schwan-Rosenwald, has been on the road representing Team4Tech at various conferences and collecting insights and learnings to bring back to our work. Check out her reflections below from the Technology Association of Grantmakers Conference:

It's been a whirlwind of conferences, and I'm still reflecting on the valuable learnings and insights from the Technology Association of Grantmakers Conference. We began by hearing Nicole Truner Lee at the The Brookings Institution remind us that while tech builds lasting change, technology alone won't solve our most pressing challenges. That's something we at Team4Tech think about often - how to intentionally pair people, resources, and technology to drive sustainable, community-led impact. From the call to "rediscover the digital invisible" to the question of whose values are training the data, the conversations around AI and equity were timely and critical. Andrew Dunckelman at the Gates Foundation spoke to the explosion of new tools, but also the complexity of leveraging them meaningfully to meet community needs. And DataKind raised an important tension: we're asking nonprofits to act like product designers - often outside their comfort zones. Until we support nonprofits with #skillsbasedvolunteering and other capacity building resources, we risk widening the gap between nonprofit and corporate sectors. It was fantastic to hear Alethea Hannemann who's unlocking tech transformation through nonprofit boards at Board.Dev reminding us that the missing piece is often not just funding but strategic tech leadership at the top. And Okta's emphasis on capacity building alongside grantmaking echoed what we believe at Team4Tech: investing in nonprofit skills and strategy is just as critical as investing in tools. It's always good when conferences push you to think outside your normal circles and this did just that!

  • “I am proud to have explored Generative AI in supporting teacher practice. Through modeling, co-planning, and reflective conversations during coaching sessions, I have grown more confident in using these tools in my work. This journey has also shifted my mindset to seeing Generative AI as an enabler in strengthening my work as an educator and not a replacement." — Daniel Onginjo Onyango, Dignitas Project, Previous Cohort Participant Applications are open for our Implementing Generative AI in Education program! Africa-based NGOs can apply through November 28! Starting in February 2026, this four-month program guides NGO staff through asynchronous modules and weekly collaborative meetings to acquire a deeper understanding of how generative AI can improve educational outcomes, increase operational efficiency, and help scale their programs. • Last week, Team4Tech's Senior Director of Programs and Partnerships, Daria N. represented our work at T4 Education's World Schools Summit, pitching our innovative Community of Practice for the #GlobalEdTechPrize. We are thrilled to have advanced to the rank of Top 3 Finalists in the Non-Profit Category—an honor we share with Avanti Fellows and Imagine Worldwide (and congratulations to Imagine on taking home the final prize!). We're so proud for this recognition, and so grateful for our work in making a difference for learners around the world. Read Daria's powerful reflection on the event below:

I walked into the #WorldSchoolsSummit expecting great conversations. But I didn’t expect one statement to stay with me: “AI should amplify, not replace. But you can only amplify what you already have.” This came up in a powerful session with Rebecca Winthrop centered on how we prepare children for an AI-powered society. Adults are adopting generative AI at incredible speed, and for many of us, it’s enhancing our work or productivity because we’ve already built deep content knowledge, reasoning skills, and critical thinking over decades. But children haven’t had that time yet. Their brains are still developing. And the session underscored something essential: If AI amplifies what exists, then our responsibility is to make sure children actually have something to amplify. Things like real knowledge, skills, and agency. Digital fluency. Creativity. Entrepreneurial thinking. Collaboration. Communication. Critical thinking. Problem-solving. Lifelong learning. That's why representing Team4Tech for the inaugural Global EdTech Prize and sharing about our transformative global Community of Practice meant so much to me. We know that technology alone doesn't close gaps. At its core, this is the work we do: support nonprofits and educators to build the human capacities that tech and AI can elevate, not replace. Being named a Top 3 nonprofit finalist was an honor, but the real highlight was seeing so many organizations across the world committed to this same mission. A huge thank you to Vikas Pota and T4 Education for creating a space where these conversations feel urgent, real, and actionable. #Team4Tech #T4Education #EdTech #AIinEducation #GlobalEducation #TechForGood

Feeling inspired by the Fab AI (AI-for-Education.org) Summit in Nairobi that wrapped up this week and proud of the role Team4Tech and Nyagaki Gichia played in making the event a success! It was an energizing 3 days of conversations about how we can leverage AI to strengthen learning across the African content. I especially enjoyed meeting Fab AI and Better Purpose colleagues in person, leading an immersion visit with GRiC Africa and facilitating fascinating discussions on AI for teacher professional development and AI quality assurance in education. A bonus was connecting with old friends and colleagues, including the invincible Carmen Strigel. Onward to turning this learning into action as we roll out capacity development for NGOs and governments through AI-for-Education.org!

The efficiency of a team rests heavily on the level of ownership and dedication of its members. Having had the pleasure to work alongside Senior Director at Team4Tech Daria N. and an inspiring team of 11 volunteers from Cadence on Team4Tech's strategic pro bono project , I can say with full conviction that my belief in the power of the collective has been thoroughly reinforced. These volunteers , split into two groups , spent a fortnight in India, at the campus of Bindi International in Harmara, Rajasthan, putting together an effective Monitoring & Evaluation tool for their Digital Community school program and also introducing AI tools for video content creation that helps the Rural media center team at Bindi. 🌍 How are NGOs in Africa using Generative AI to transform education? Team4Tech just published two powerful case studies coming out of our first cohort supporting education organizations in Africa to implement GenAI responsibly and effectively: 🔹 Yiya Solutions in Uganda launched Yiya AirVoice, Africa's first AI-powered offline tutor designed for last-mile learners with basic phones and low literacy. Lessons are voiced in local accents, learner’s progress is tracked so they can pick up where they left off, and most importantly, it works without the internet, making quality STEM education accessible to even the most remote village. 🔹Dignitas Project in Kenya integrated AI into its digital learning platform, LeadNow, to enhance teacher coaching and reflective practice. Their AI-powered feedback tool analyzes teacher discipline plans, generates personalized feedback and helps boost teacher effectiveness and adherence to discipline plans- leading to improvements in classroom management and student behavior. 📣  Are you an Africa-based NGO ready to explore how GenAI can strengthen your education programs? I am thrilled to share that we have opened up applications for the second cohort launching in the spring! Participating organizations will receive access to structured coursework, resources aligned to evidence-based practices, a $2,500 participation stipend and ongoing coaching by our AI expert and team of leading edtech practitioners. Deadline to apply is November 28. To apply, join Team4Tech's Community of Practice to access the application, learn more about this opportunity (and others!), connect with peers, and get support bringing AI into your organization: community.team4tech.org The links to the two case studies are in the comments and we will be publishing others in the coming months. #genAI #fundingopportunity #training #AI #education
