Super excited for Maxima announcing themselves to the world today with their $41M Seed + Series A financing! We co-led Maxima's $10M seed alongside our friends Aditya, Josh, Mamoon at Kleiner Perkins a year ago, and happily doubled down at the A alongside Urvashi and Satish at Redpoint! Yogi came over last week to the Audacious Ventures office to chat about his story leading up to founding Maxima + his vision for the company.

Today I’m excited to announce Maxima's $41M in seed and Series A funding, led by Redpoint, Kleiner Perkins, Audacious Ventures with participation from top finance execs at FOG Ventures. We are building the world’s first agentic AI platform for enterprise accounting. The accounting function is at a breaking point: 🔹 The number of public companies restating financials due to accounting errors is at an all time high. https://lnkd.in/gRPSz7kd 🔹 The number of people entering the accounting profession is at an all time low. https://lnkd.in/gJzbX7-S I know this first hand because I’ve spent two decades in finance and accounting, and I’ve seen how painful it is to prepare and close the books every month. I have watched talented people burn out, miss family milestones, or leave the profession because the only way to keep up was 16-hour days for weeks at stretch. So we are going after one of the hardest problem in enterprise using two of the biggest shifts in technology: LLMs and AI agents. We combine LLMs as the system of intelligence with AI agents as the system of action, so our platform prepares the accounting work end to end and takes on the most painful tasks of the month-end close. This isn’t just theory. Maxima is powering accounting automation for leading enterprises such as Scale AI, SpotOn, Rippling, and many others processing millions of transactions governed by precise accounting logic. The impact: up to 80% faster closes, 95% automation of repetitive workflows, with 100% accuracy and auditability. We are deeply grateful to our early believers and partners, including Satish D. and Urvashi from Redpoint; Mamoon Hamid, Josh Coyne, Aditya Naganath from Kleiner Perkins; Nakul Mandan, Samantha Price, Muzzammil Zaveri from Audacious Ventures, and Joe Montana, Michael Ma from Liquid 2 Ventures along with a remarkable group of angel investors who lead finance and accounting organizations around the world from groups like FOG Ventures. What I am proudest of is the team behind Maxima. My co-founders Akshaya, Jack, alongside our engineers who’ve built pinpoint accurate, massive financial systems at Netflix, Robinhood, Bolt, YouTube and Apple, and accountants and controllers who have lived this pain firsthand. This blend of technical excellence and domain empathy is rare, and it gives me conviction that we can finally automate the manual grind and free up the accounting teams to focus on what actually moves the business. Thank you to Reuters (https://lnkd.in/gzXFr7w7) for covering our story — we are just getting started. 🚀 Read our announcement blog post in the comments.

🚀 Excited to share that Redpoint is leading the Series A in Maxima, a company bringing AI to corporate accounting. If you’ve spent any time with accounting teams, you know the month-end close can feel like running a marathon in quicksand. Endless spreadsheet gymnastics, late-night tie-outs, emails flying back and forth, and despite all the software out there, most of the real work still gets done manually. That’s why Maxima stood out. They’ve built an agentic accounting platform that’s not just another checklist--it actually does the work. Their AI agents take on the heavy lifting across reconciliations, journal entries, and close workflows, turning accountants from preparers into reviewers. Customers like Scale AI, SpotOn, and Rippling are already seeing up to 80% faster closes, 95% of manual work automated, and 100% auditability. But what really sold us is the team. It’s rare to find people who truly understand the nuances of enterprise accounting and know how to build technically ambitious products. Maxima has both. Yogi Goel, Akshaya Srivatsa, Jack Liao, and the entire Maxima team are building something truly special. We’re thrilled to be on this journey with them and to partner with our friends at Kleiner Perkins and Audacious Ventures. Check out the video below for more on the investment and what got us excited! 👇

Anyone who has worked in a CFO org knows what month-end feels like. Data scattered across systems, manual handoffs, endless reconciliations, late nights, and zero room for error. It’s the definition of a hair-on-fire problem. Maxima is launching today to change that. The platform connects to your ERP and all your upstream financial systems, builds a living finance graph, and uses AI agents to prepare and post journal entries, match transactions, run reconciliations, and flag anomalies. Customers are already seeing 80% faster closes, 95% automation of manual tasks, and full auditability. We’re excited to back Yogi Goel, Akshaya Srivatsa, Jack Liao, and the entire Maxima crew as they bring real-time accounting to the finance teams that need it most. Hear more from Yogi, and our investors Aditya Naganath and Josh Coyne ⬇️

Every month, enterprise accounting teams fight the same battle. They pull data from dozens of fragmented systems, reconcile discrepancies line by line, and piece together financials long after the business has moved on. For years, the default fix has been to throw people at the problem. The result? More errors (https://lnkd.in/gsFyitX8) , more burnout (https://lnkd.in/esncbiZB), more back pain (https://lnkd.in/gus6z37H), and more pressure on teams who hold the integrity of the business in their hands (https://lnkd.in/dyhwuBSq) Today, we’re changing that. We’re announcing $41M in Seed + Series A funding led by Redpoint, Kleiner Perkins, and Audacious Ventures, to launch the first agentic AI platform for enterprise accounting. Maxima connects directly to every financial system—ERPs, banks, payroll, CRM, data warehouse—to create an enterprise finance graph. Our AI Agents use this unified context to prepare the work end-to-end, including: ✔️ Pulling data from disparate systems ✔️ Automating journals in real-time ✔️ Running reconciliations and matching transactions at scale ✔️ Detecting anomalies and explaining fluxes at the transaction level This isn’t another work log or checklist, but a new system of work that handles the heavy lifting on behalf of accountants. Huge thanks to our customers, investors, and to Reuters for covering our story. We’re just getting started — and we’re hiring across all teams (link in comments)

Had a great time yesterday discussing the 'Impact of AI on the office of CFO'. My takeaways: 1. Controls, data security and human reviews are crucial for CFO AI. Ensure your AI strategy incorporates these 2. Get off the month-end treadmill and create time for AI adoption. If you won't prioritize AI adoption, you will forever be 'hand writing thousand postcards every month' and never learn how to email :) 3. There seems to be enough mundane, no/low value tasks that everyone wanted AI to take. Provided AI produces accurate results 4. AI needs to differentiate between deterministic and probabilistic workflows. Both require different treatment 5. People are reasonably nervous about displacement and irrelevance in this new world. We need to recognize those concerns and hold each other's hand as we together cross this new chasm And Finally, Us humans are not going out of fashion - judgement, empathy and final authority (aka sign offs) will continue to be important and driven by humans. Very astute perspectives shared by the fellow panelists: Kyle Casement , Mark Berry, Sara Ellis Conant, Maria Azatyan, Kajal Agarwal, CPA Thanks to CFO Leadership Council, KPMG , Insperity, NetSuite for bringing us all together

Great read from Mark Maurer at The Wall Street Journal on how AI is helping companies in their Record-to-Report operations. AI is helping CFO departments with both number compilation (journals, accruals) and financial report writing (10Ks, 10Qs). Market leading companies such as onsemi and Hewlett Packard Enterprise are seeing real impact on accuracy and efficiency. For these companies: - AI assistance has reduced the time between book close to reporting from 10 to 8 days with plans to go to 6 days next year - AI is doing the work much more efficiently across the entire financial reporting cycle than what they’ve done in the past This matches my experience talking to leading CFOs, CAOs, Controllers every day at Maxima: 1. leading companies are leaning into AI, not getting scared away. Per this WSJ article, 16% of finance execs are using AI a lot in their record-to-report operations and other 28% using AI somewhat 2. AI is getting better and better. We see this every day. AI is able to write complex variance analysis, propose accurate journal entry with full proof of work, perform reconciliation at millions of transaction scale 3. Agent prepared, human reviewed is the way forward. Deterministic work, need deterministic operators. Probabilistic work need human reviewers. AI amplifies the humans by doing the mundane, low judgement work https://lnkd.in/gUch6RCB
