The chefs at Barcelona Wine Bar want to talk to their fish guys, not tech support. Easy menu changes with SpotOn POS help make it possible (and if they do need help, our 24/7 tech support is there—even earlier than the fishmongers). Thanks to Amy Hom for sharing how tech makes an impact for her business.

Want to start a debate? Just bring up tipping. Tipping brings up a lot of big feelings from both hospitality staff and their guests. GOOD Magazine takes on the lightning rod topic, breaking down how tipping habits shift by generation (and cites SpotOn’s research from the front lines). Restaurant operators: how are you taking care of your people and your guests when it comes to tipping? Read on: link is in the comments.

SpotOn is heading into Q4 with real momentum—and it’s thanks to our team and our operator community. We’ve deepened integrations with DoorDash, Deliverect, and Reddie Group to cut steps, keep menus consistent, and give managers clearer visibility to make faster calls. We’re also welcoming more great restaurants to the family—multi-unit concepts and marquee destinations choosing an Restaurant Management System (RMS) that simplifies operations and scales with them. And through partnerships like Benchmark Sixty Restaurant Services, Hispanic Chamber Cincinnati, and Giving Kitchen, we’re supporting profitability and the people who power this industry. We are all proud of the work, grateful for our clients, and focused on what matters: practical innovation that helps restaurants do more with less and strengthen guest relationships—especially as we head into the holidays. #RestaurantTech #IndependentRestaurants #Hospitality #TeamSpotOn

We believe restaurants are an asset to their communities every day. But sometimes, they really go out of their way to prove it. Thrilled to attend (and proud to sponsor) the 2025 Taste of Asia in Madison Square Park last week. Featuring more than 40 of New York’s top restaurants and hosted by one of our favorite clients, Simon Kim, the event raised more than $1.6M for Apex for Youth and Madison Square Park Conservancy.

Independent restaurants are under pressure to do more with less, including finding new ways to support their teams. That’s why SpotOn is proud to collaborate with Visa Direct and Astra to power DayCheck, our earned tip solution that simplifies tip payout and cash flow for operators, while helping them get money into workers’ pockets quickly. With DayCheck + Visa Direct: Operators skip manual cash handling —no prefunding required Payments move seamlessly with Astra’s enterprise-grade infrastructure Employees can access their hard-earned tips in near real time It’s a win-win: operators stand out as employers of choice, and employees gain more financial flexibility and peace of mind.

Rick Shew started in the restaurant business in 1992 at “Mr Jim’s Pizza” in Mesquite, Texas his junior year of high school. Little did he know making pizzas and running the cash register in that Dallas suburb would ignite a lifelong passion for hospitality. Today, Rick is the co-owner of a bar and also an Area Sales Manager with SpotOn. He’s worked in Hospitality for over three decades and that passion for hospitality and the people who pour their livelihoods into the industry energizes him every day. "The service industry is in my my DNA, and working at SpotOn gives me the opportunity to positively affect operators all over the country. I live for it.”
